The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:
-
Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.
-
Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.
-
Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.
-
Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

Notes -
Went to a Halloween singles party/event on Friday that I was skeptical of, it seemed way too tick-tock-y (something something "chaotic" π).
It turned out to be a roped-off area of a generic dance club playing music I remember from AMVhell. I was wearing a costume that people went nuts for, I had random people on the street coming up to me to compliment me while I was on the way there. Absolutely no one interacted with me of their own accord once I entered.
There were two groups of three girls all talking to each other and a bunch of sad bastards sitting alone with thousand-yard stares. I went up to one of the groups and said "So, this is every singles event, right? Three girls talking to each other and a bunch of sad bastards?"
They responded
Because the music was too loud. I leaned in and shouted "isn't this music kinda impractical for meeting people?"
Looking at the expressions on the faces and seeing little encouragement, I left, $20 poorer. I hate the world so much.
For the LIFE of me I donβt understand why so many venues have zero chill with the music volume. Itβs so often waaaaay too loud, but I look around and no one seems bothered?
The venues do it because the customers like it. I don't understand why the customers like this though.

I don't think that kind of gigs is meant to be enjoyed without a few grams of substances I don't know much about inside you.
