There's an obvious answer but I dont think it's one a lot users here are going to like.
Im asking a question is "avian flu spreading freely in American cattle" or are partisan operatives in the cdc trying to muddy the waters?
Fact is that the Influenza A pandemic of '68, and the swine flu outbreak of '09 were both more deadly on a case-by-case basis than covid-19 turned out to be. Covid was not unique in its risk factors, it was unique in that that it came at an opportune time.
Edit: given what we have since learned about the whole "lab leak theory" a cynic might fibd themselves suggesting that Fauci and friends are litteraly the bad guys from V for Vendetta.

Ill ask again how do you reconcile your claim that debates dont matter with the observation that Biden's poor debate performance effectively killed his chances of winning the election come November?

That bit jumped out at me as well. Even amongst the Dev Set that strikes me as a very FAANG / SV centric point of view.
Even today i would expect the violent crime (or at least the lethal variety thereof) to follow a similar pattern. Murders generally dont happen "out of the blue" and when they do happen (see Asian ladies getting pushed in front of trains) they get treated as news-worthy precisely because they are a deviation from the norm.
To paraphrase Heath Ledger's Joker, nobody freeks out when a gangbanger gets shot.
I completely agree with you regarding his work ethic and lack of pride/ego which I believe is the secret of his longevity, and the reason that he totally deserves each and every one of those Superbowl Rings.
At the same time I can think of multiple QBs off the top of my head who I would rank above him in terms of raw talent and athleticism.
I don't think we're all that far off from eachother.

The Boeing issue was somwhat unique in that it was arguably the result of a vulnerability that had been purposefully introduced.
A conscious choice was made to change the emergancy autopilot disconnect from a physical switch to a software one and also to exempt certain autopilot functions from said disconnect switch thus invalidating the existing pilot checklist procedure for bad air data.

Dont get me wrong, he totally earned his Superbowl Rings, but it's a lot easier to rack up an absurd win-count when you spend the bulk of your career standing behind one of the best O-lines in the league.

Its not that "Christians don't lie" so much that the Christian worldview in general and Western attitudes regarding individual worth and the treatment of servants/subordinates in particular are unusually conducive to building trust in an otherwise low trust environment.
At the same time are we sure "wouldn't they start lying again once they become atheists?" Is not exactly what we are seeing? Do you believe that the Democratic party of Jimmy Carter would've allowed the current situation to occur? What about the party of Truman?
