I’m not sure about this. The kind of person who searches extremely niche economic forecasts videos on inflation from small think tanks is surely more likely to use their real name and not QueefBurglar420
On my anti-Ukraine comment, I got a reply from one poster whose English was highly unnatural and who only ever replied on the forum 20 days before, for a previous discussion on Ukraine. He also criticized the forum for posting about “transsexuals”, a give-away that he is not familiar with the discussions (which always use trans or transgender) and that he would have no interest in browsing themotte simply waiting for Ukraine to come up. I thought that was, not a bot, but someone pinged out of the West of Ukraine because their google search for forums about Zelensky came up. I have no evidence, and it’s not like his content was low quality, so I don’t exactly care much. (If you’re not, apologies, but I think some doubt is warranted.)
I think the sad reality of discussions on Russia and Ukraine is that we know it is littered with Ukrainian and Russian bots and paid agents who are pinged from indexed search engines to participate in these discussions. There’s nothing you can do about it and there will usually never be any proof. I can’t imagine any way to substantively combat the problem, let alone on a small forum.
Something I’ve been mulling over, as a longtime Catholic apologist who doesn’t practice, which may be relevant ITT, is the nature of religious worship in a church, and why so many love high church ritualism and symbolism instinctually. There’s an element of dramatic imagination in worship. I think when you sit in a church and you say “I’m in a church”, and when you hear the psalm and you say “I’m hearing the psalm”, and when you see the crucifix and say “this is art of the crucifix”, you are doing it wrong. Instead, the church is the spatial representation of Heaven, and when you hear the psalm you should be transcended into the voice of the narrator with all your senses, and you should behold the crucifix as if it is the only true crucifix. You have to engage dramatically and allow the sensations to become the new reality of your mind, the new earth even, to get the most out of worship. In the Bible we read about the “spirit” of the word versus the “flesh”, and the spirit is the deepest meaning with the flesh being the surface referent to the meaning. And what we’re after is the deeper spiritual transfiguration that refreshes the soul.
So (this isn’t Catholic), but if you’re hearing this hymn, with the lyrics:
Behold, I fall before thy face; My only refuge is thy grace; No outward form can make me clean; The leprosy lies deep within.
All attention should be on identification with the words as they mean deeply, ie the narrative. You imagine and feel deeply that you are prostate in front of the greatest Being imaginable. You feel the Being’s “grace”, or mercy and compassion, and you can simply visualize a King if that helps. You truly identify with the feeling of sickness and associate that with your sin.
Religious worship can (and I think should) be seen as a dramatic transformation because this is the way that it affects us most deeply and causes interior changes of the heart.
The scientific perspective of the time was that blacks were inferior intellectually and culturally. The ethical consensus of the time was that groups were allowed to keep their wealth and have dominion over the towns and cities they created. The geopolitical-historical perspective of the time was that white people were simply one member of a multicultural family of enslavers and were not uniquely guilty of any sin. The cultural perspective was that blacks were more prone to criminality, and that white people were unique in certain “civilizational” abilities. All of these combined form a strong argument (for the late 1800s) in having white towns staying white.
Do you have evidence on this? We have a ton of writings from the south during reconstruction, and while the rape of white women by black men was an important issue (it influenced the Tulsa race riot), and still is an important issue according to fbi stats, I don’t recall much writing talking about consensual sex being the important issue.
The San Francisco Chronicle has announced the discovery of a new Pretendian, the class of white women who pretend to be Native Americans to procure benefits ranging from job opportunities to social status. This story would be insignificant, since the public is now familiar with Warren and Dolezal. But the author has discovered what can be called the Chief Pretendian, none other than Sacheen Littlefeather, the most important female native American in the 70s and 80s. You might not know the name but you’re probably familiar with the clip of the pretty Indian woman making a speech on behalf of Marlon Brando at the Oscar’s. Turns out all the evidence points to her being a white Spaniard with no connection to any American Indian nation, and no connection to any indigenous Mexican group either.
The details are the details, what I find most interesting is: why? This is a pattern, not a one-off thing. White American lib women love cosplaying as Indians. Duplicitous Littlefinger Littlefeather went all in on the LARP, dedicating most of her life to her story as an Indian. The why is so much more interesting than the how.
My thoughts are that people, and especially young women, love costumes, specialness, and emotionally significant stories. The romanced notion of Indians is a whole wardrobe of social life that a person can put on and enjoy. Littlefeather had no interested in the non-romanced Mexican identity. Indians, however, had the connotation of being cool, one with nature, wise, and good. This costumed enjoyment is why the KKK larped as wizards and wore Spanish Catholic dress, why the Freemasons larped as they did, and maybe why the Liberal Woman -> Hijabi pipeline is running despite stretching more terrain than Nordstream. We live in one of the least costumed, ritualized, and play-tending time in Western history. The only thing we have left is Halloween (and liberal women love it too, rightfully so)!
When I would go on day-long fasts, the only way I could get myself to complete it was to look forward to my large meal at the end of the day. And I had to look forward to the enjoyable part of the meal, not the vegetables but the buttery pasta or tasty chicken. If I didn’t have this enjoyment to look forward to, or even if I didn’t already plan exactly what I would be eating, I would invariably lose motivation and quit the fast early. When it did come time to eat, the eating was much more pleasurable and relaxing than usual (imagine being hungry and stoned at the same time).
Is this a larger phenomenon that can be generalized or just a bug in my brain’s code? Do humans work better when they have a determined, concrete enjoyment that they are 99% sure awaits them? The knowledge of “fasts are good for me”, “my hunger will go away”, “this is making me stronger” wasn’t nearly as motivating as simply knowing and anticipating a half-hour of enjoyable eating.
Oh he visited kyiv! That must mean he is always in Kyiv, right?
As much as I find these questions a little boring now (likely because I’ve spent too much time reading themotte), this is a good place to ask because posters are genuinely interested in understanding the nature of wokism. Even though no one subscribes to the ideology, you might still find informative or interesting replies.
Kolomoisky has Israeli and Cypriot citizenship and is banned from the US. He is either in Israel of Cyprus but Israel is the most likely location.
Btw, just out of curiosity, how did you find themotte? I noticed that you’re not a native English speaker and only post about Ukraine when it comes up.
Nicotine enhances learning pre-task, and iirc weakly post-task, which contrasts with coffee ingestion which only enhances learning post-task. Personally I would try to only use nicotine within a learning context for maximum benefit, and this can be interpreted broadly. Practicing being mindful and relaxed, or gracious, can be construed as a kind of learning; learning is not just verbal cue-response retrieval.
What they used to do with nicotine is snort it or place some on the gum, and researching this I found no correlation between this intake and cancer. Lozenges and gum are absorbed slower, which may not be advantageous to targeted use in learning. Personally I would use a vape or try to find snorting tobacco.
I didn’t misunderstand the sarcasm. I ignored your annoying rule-breaking sarcasm and disproved your intended argument.
All the money in the world doesn't mean people will listen to your orders
This has nothing whatsoever to do with whether NATO would oust Zelensky, whether NATO is calling the shots (literally speaking with satellites), whether NATO has influenced the picking of Ukraine’s leaders and military, or anything else. No one is arguing that the Ukrainian military does not want to fight Russia, we’re arguing whether Zelensky has more authority than the enmeshed NATO command in Ukraine’s military. That, plus shooting those who refuse orders and drafting men who don’t want to fight, gets soldiers to fight.
There are clearly videos of Zelensky around kyiv and Bucha. the question is whether he spends most of his time in kyiv, or Ukraine. Bucha in particular occurred during peace talks in Turkey.
I am going to make a separate OP post providing evidence he uses a green screen maybe sometime this week, and I hope to hear your reply in that thread
Given that you claim that Zelensky never visited Bucha and that all photos and videos from there are CGI
No one claimed this
Who funded it? You are misinformed.
Correct. The US government told the Afghanis when and where to fight. They made all of the decisions. But the Taliban were superior to the Afghani soldiers and without continual funding the Afghan army fell apart. I hope did not think the Afghans made the decisions on how to fight.
Well of course. I look at it, and it looks like a green screen to me.
I don’t think anything would encourage you to spend time on a Russian-sourced claim.
As evidence for Bucha, you provide me with (1) the death of a prominent Russian-aligned politician whose son was murdered in 2018, (2) whom Russia was in contact with encouraging to flee Bucha, and (3) who we are to believe was killed by a random violent drunk Russian soldier, even though with certainty he would have had communication with the officers.
I am… not going to believe that.
An extraordinarily convenient line for the death of a pro-Russian politician. I love the idea of Russia being fine with soldiers killing influential pro-Russian politicians in key areas.
This is fake too, I imagine: https://youtube.com/watch?v=0gip7ibW_5Q
Nice source!
Ukraine’s meager supplies are nothing without Western intelligence. Everything of significance we fund
Not on anything of significance, to my knowledge. The Ukrainian military command controls the guys with guns and is in direct communication with NATO at all times. If Zelensky decides he now wants to surrender, do you really think his NATO handlers would let him, or that the guys controlling the army will simply obey? The military has previously made decisions without his input, let alone consent
When Zelensky disagrees, Zelensky is out.
Yes they are. They fund everything, they get the decisions.
Perhaps it depends on the economist. But i’ve noticdd wide differences in names according to video content
