Once these kids hit the workplace, they are strikingly lost. They understand how to do a set task, so long as it is phrased like a problem they would be posed in school, but beyond this, they find independent work very challenging. They tend not to be comfortable having opinions of their own. When asked to do analytical work, they tend to write in a polemical style. They will present all the information that supports a thesis, but do not understand the importance of covering the facts and evidence that points the other way.
William Deresiewicz does some pretty good observations on this in Excellent Sheep.

There are some valiant attempts to reclaim the virtue of self-reliance and the dignity of manual labor but it feels like, at best, fighting a delaying action. Ten years ago Mike Rowe (of Dirty Jobs fame) was invited to give TED talks or testify to the Senate about manual labor. Now the flavor of the day is just giving money to college grads who can't handle their finances like adults.

Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove. I've never read it but it's supposedly a classic in the Western genre and summer seemed thematically appropriate for it.

Something of a bias, but the Stranger Things series. Season 3 was unnecessary but fine. Season 4 wrecked a lot of previous characterization and abandoned the sense of mystery that made Season 1 so good in favor of a generic action show.

Even the conservatives feel the need to do it - abortion isn't just bad because they think it's genociding tens of millions of infants, it's especially bad because Margaret Sanger was a racist or something.
I always assumed this was a failed attempt by conservatives to use a lefty weapon against lefties. Master's tools, master's house and all that.

Can you explain what you mean by this? The quick search I just did says women make up approximately 3-5% of known serial killers, which suggests the opposite of overrepresentation to me.
