Lmao I also initially thought he was the guy from the change my mind meme.

I've asked for evidence of being a groyper from people saying it and usually they just stop talking at that point. Only one guy actually gave any reason at all and it was that no true leftist would write any of that on the bullet casings and it's obviously a right winger false flagging. Suffice it to say this reasoning is utterly unconvincing.

The cope from left wing people I know are discord is insane. I've gotten both that he was groyper and it was a trump ordered false flag. Up until now I considered these people fairly connected to reality and I'm quite shocked at how quickly they're resorting to conspiracy to deny this. Not to mention they usually follow up with him being a piece of shit and it's good he got shot anyway. It's "the holocaust never happened but it should've" tier bad rhetoric.

I'm not sure what to do about it either. When I try to dispute it they suddenly just ignore me and don't even try to defend what they said. Should I just stop talking to these people all together? It's gonna be kinda hard to interact with them with this stuff they said at the back of my mind.

I gotta be honest this one really concerns me. The assassinations of political influencers seems more likely to escalate than either school shootings or politicians. My worry is that we see some right winger assassinate some high profile left wing influencer in "revenge" for charlie kirk. And then it just spirals from there.

What the heck is your definition of healthy????? Do you just think that being "trendy" means it's better in health and taste?

It's always strange when I meet people like this. Theres a certain kind of person that fixates on a particular diet and reasons about how healthy food is by how closely it follows their chosen diet. It's hard for me to get into the head of people who are just completely immune to any actual examination of the outcomes of various diets and insists their diet is healthy. Someone downthread points out OPs supposedly healthier national diets have significantly worse outcomes than the supposedly unhealthy japanese diet and OP basically ignores it. I do know people like this IRL but they're all boomers probably basing their ideas off a debunked paper that was widely reported in the 70s or something. People have some utterly bizarre ideas about what food is healthy and I don't understand why theres so much intransience on this particular topic.

The wikipedia takes a different route to any of those and basically just argues this can't possibly be true because if it were then people would support policies we don't like.

Despite widespread scholarly criticism of the model minority myth as a racialized and harmful stereotype, its influence continues to persist in media, education, and policy discourse. Academically, the myth has been widely discredited for obscuring structural inequalities and reinforcing anti-Blackness, but in practice, it is still frequently invoked—both implicitly and explicitly—when portraying Asian American communities as exceptionally successful or culturally predisposed to achievement.

The only point in the article where it even makes an attempt as disputing the facts of the matter is by saying that the 1965 immigration act lead to selection effects of rich asians moving to america, which I don't buy for a second for many reasons.

Speaking of, anyone have a steelman of model minority being a myth? I'm reading the wikipedia article and this clearly isn't it. It's honestly the most insane cope I've read in years. Nothing but nitpicking obfuscation and moral condemnation for noticing.

It's really not that complicated once you get past the schizo wording.

So, you know how if it's day where you are then it's night on the other side of the earth? And half way between you and the opposite side it's sun rise and sunset?

Thats it, thats all time cube is.

This really reminds me of timecube, where someone uses a lot of words and fancy language to say something utterly mundane. I skimmed but this just seems to be B theory of time and it's consequences.

Tangential but there were in fact, no witches. The witch hunts of europe were started by a guy who wanted an excuse to get a bunch of women who disagreed with his preaching executed and spiraled out of control. The only crime any of the people accused of witchcraft actually committed was at worse disagreeing with a powerful person on theology.

What are you talking about? What even is public circle censorship?

Your link about chinese vs US weapon acquisition is broken.

The discussion started over claims about russian oil and gas which weren't significantly sanctioned until russia invaded.

I feel you're losing the plot here. We were talking about recent sanctions effect on the economy. Why are you bringing up the last decade when the discussion was about the last 2 years of economic growth?

5% growth over the past year is not hot? Any western country would consider it a miracle to have that growth rate. For reference america, which is the western country which best recovered from covid, has a growth rate of 2.5% over the past year. Honestly I was ready to accept your claim that the russian economy is doing bad until I saw the chart you linked. Now I'm wondering how they managed such impressive growth under such a restrictive sanctions regime.

You must've skipped the intro in order to have written this. He goes over why he doesn't include stuff like that in it. Heres the relevant section to most of what you say. TL;DR He thinks they're crypto liberals.

It's a bit dishonest to confidently predict the reaction of a community you admit to knowing nothing about. It's also a bit dishonest to say in one post you're doing it out of peer pressure and in the next say it's your preference.

If I didn't capitalize the word "black" in my sentence, there could be people here who would demand I capitalize it. What would you have me do?

This is not even remotely true. I have never seen anyone on the motte admonish someone else for not capitalizing black.

At the risk of getting admonished for consensus building, where do you think you are right now?

The lack of self-awareness in that george takei tweet is so galling I almost think it's a joke. You can't claim your tribe is calling for unity while in the same tweet stoking division.

Heads up, your second link also leads to the guardians removed content.

As the person who pointed this out, I don't think being inspired by a 4chan thread and even reposting stuff verbatim should in and of itself be considered trolling. There is upon occasion good points made on that website (I wouldn't spend so much time there if there weren't) and I'd rather not start a trend of sourcing from 4chan to be inherently suspect.

Hey, just letting you guys know cause I think this is very funny. This essay is based upon a 4chan thread! For example, the entirety of the first citation is just taken verbatim from this post here https://boards.4channel.org/v/thread/652238026#p652239931

I have no idea why OP decided to convert a 4chan thread into a post on the motte but it's very amusing to me. While I certainly enjoy using 4chan, I wouldn't cite it as a source.
