Most doctors have some combination of research, teaching, administrative, and managerial duties all of which bleed outside of traditional work hours in the usual ways.

I have a few doctor friends, most in family med, 1 in ophthalmology, 1 in podiatry (debatable) , and my wife's family are mostly doctors, including radiology, physiatry, and neurology.

Ive never heard of any of them doing any "research, teaching, administrative, or managerial work" past residency. They all seem to work 30-40h a week doing pretty much "doctor stuff" only.

My father made me play and complete some of his "old man" video games before he would allow me to get a gamecube when I was around your son's age in 2001. Mainly it was Dungeon Master for the Atari ST. Things are different now with the always-online attention farming microtransaction slop that we call modern video games - but maybe some older titles/consoles at first. I cant imagine what my brain would be like if I was exposed to something like Fortnite at age 7.

Have you considered staying inside your home country? Americans overwhelmingly voted to lower immigration - Trump’s policies aren’t a "suggestion" or some miscalculation, they’re the people’s choice. It's quite selfish to continue to game the system in the face of this.

I have to ask - do you not feel uncomfortable coming to a country where the people do not want you there? I know I could not make such a move.

I've noticed a trend lately where TLC's on the culture war roundup are increasingly dominated by Indian issues and things that only Indians would be concerned about, and it’s becoming hard to ignore. I don't believe it's malevolent for Indian users to bring up topics relevant to their country, however there’s a real risk that the entire site starts to tilt toward Indian concerns, removing what was once sacred about this place. (Sheer volume notwithstanding)
