Reminds me of the other poster in possession of towering intelligence and a suspicious lack of tangible achievements who thought declaring his intellectual superiority enhanced his argument. Doubt it's actually him, though, it's been a few years and I don't think he would return to do the same thing again.

I think this personality archetype/line of debate is just fairly common amongst 'smart' mildly autistic guys who are about to graduate university and struggling to find 'worthy' graduate employment.

Absolutely, for some reason there's this insane arrogance that smart-ish autistics get. Not sure why it's such a thing.

I don't even think his line of argumentation is necessarily completely wrong. He's probably top 5% in raw intelligence, current elite selection methods have issues with being relentlessly KPI hacked and considering 'annoying white autist' is probably the archetype that has contributed the most to human advancement and creating modernity there's currently discrimination throughout the pipeline.

However one must also acknowledge he's kinda annoying and complaining isn't achieving anything.

I find it pointless to really try and judge people's intelligence over online forum posts. As a former 'annoying white autist' making the jump to 'not-annoying white autist' does wonders for people's willingness to hear you out, and engage with your ideas. Unfortunately, it's all about the opportunities you have available and many of those come from other people being willing to listen, engage and like you.

If he's young then he should try to re-optimize for that. If he's not its probably too late to learn it.

God I've been around here for a bit, I'm not sure I remember who this is. There's been a couple people that will flex credentials in other fields to give themselves a flex, but IQ flexers are not something I've remembering.

What is this place?

This website is a place for people who want to move past shady thinking and test their ideas in a court of people who don't all share the same biases. Our goal is to optimize for light, not heat; this is a group effort, and all commentators are asked to do their part.

Why are you called The Motte?

A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently, it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey", originally identified by philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."

On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
