Back in 2022 the Canadian government saw the trucker protests as well as a report from the RCMP warning about domestic revolt.

In response they seem to be trying to form a Varangian Guard. It's not going well.

In 2022 they opened up military officer positions to permanent residents instead of just citizens. Because of the governments commitment to French language, they have been recruiting from French speaking African countries.

They've lowered standards and had to deal with problems.

They are not deterred by the problems and have added an express immigration category for "highly skilled foreign military applicants". https://archive.ph/4JgpZ
