The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:
-
Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.
-
Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.
-
Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.
-
Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

My house is cleaner, more organized, and in better repair than it's been in decades and it makes me incredibly sad.
It's been almost 6 months since my husband died and I have spent the time doing. It was hard to get things done before because he was the guy and if there was a task and I started doing it he would feel guilty that he wasn't doing it (ADHD is a bear) and I didn't want him to feel guilty so I would bring things up instead of just doing them and he would be all oh yeah I will do that and then ADHD. Now I can just, do it.
There's still a ton to do. So many things. I think I need to replace the steps on my deck (steps end directly on dirt and things have shifted over the years). I know nothing about rebuilding steps on a deck but I can dig holes and buy stringers and pour concrete and screw down boards. So I probably won't make things worse. And one more thing will be knocked off the to do list making the house more pleasant to be in. Because it's easier when I am not working around my spouse's ADHD. And boy doesn't that make me a jerk.
