Tinker Tuesday for July 21st, 2026

This thread is for anyone working on personal projects to share their progress, and hold themselves somewhat accountable to a group of peers.

Post your project, your progress from last week, and what you hope to accomplish this week.

If you want to be pinged with a reminder asking about your project, let me know, and I'll harass you each week until you cancel the service.

I finished the novel last Tuesday and took a week off before editing. I'll start today.

Congratulations! But I would recommend waiting longer before looking at it.

Why? The first chapters were written a long time ago, in early spring.

In On Writing, Stephen King recommends leaving your first draft to rest for at least six weeks before picking it up again. This gives you enough distance from it to assess it objectively: it sort of feels like a novel someone else wrote.
