Small-Scale Question Sunday for October 4, 2026

Do you have a dumb question that you're kind of embarrassed to ask in the main thread? Is there something you're just not sure about?

This is your opportunity to ask questions. No question too simple or too silly.

Culture war topics are accepted, and proposals for a better intro post are appreciated.

So, what are you reading?

I'm still on al-Katibi's The Rules of Logic. Also picking up Addas' House of the Prophet.

Finished LoTR and read Anguish Languish as a quick palate cleanser. It's an amusing brain tickler to try and read the sentences in the plain text, decode their semantic meaning, and maintain the awkward accent that sits between the two at the same time. Some are almost too easy, a lot of them take two or three passes, but even after getting my "ear" in there's a couple in there that I gave up on figuring out.

It's fun to try and imagine what tenor to hit when reading it out loud for a listener and whether to add the semantic pacing and rhythm or try to recite it as plainly as possible and resist slipping into normal language. Would recommend it to anyone who has young kids that they read out loud to, you could try it both ways.
