Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.
The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

It’s been going that way for a long time. De Touqueville was right in suggesting that once the idea that the government exists to give them personally things, it was all over. Unfortunately that’s the biggest problem with democracy, because the way to win is to promise to do exactly that. You promise to give people more gibs than the other guy, and win. And because democracy is about winning elections and not necessarily governing, you end up with people who know how to pander to their base, to promise various forms of gibs, to loot the treasury and pass legislation that would hand the prosperity of society to your base, and not to run the country in a sane way that promotes growth and security.
True, true, but I may have muddled my point: that the Founders intent should obviously be honored. I don't think the Oath Clause fails as the letter of the law, but if fudging interpretists want to only apply it should you lie about insurrection activities, I believe we must follow the spirit of the law.
