Anything from completely engineering the situation, to following a sudden inspiration to give the girls a gentle push into a a reaction that will do numbers on TikTok.
Though I wouldn't take the groomer hypothesis off the table yet either.
I've seen the story make it's way through the feeds. I'm reluctant to believe because of how easy it is to prove/disprove for any "field correspondent" and how much egg on face it would be for thrainstream. Not that it hasn't happened before, I suppose.
Well, I started integrating the substack API, but didn't get very far. Despite the lack of documentation it seems pretty easy to handle, though there are some steuctural differences between it, my app, or even twitter, so it's taking me a while to figure out how to map it.
By the way, is it me or is the FOSS community not quite as vibrant as it used to be? Not long ago, the moment someone exposed an API, you'd have at least one alternative client. Twiiter, Youtube, Reddit, all have alt-readers / viewers, but I haven't found anything for Substack. There's one dude that wrote a Python implementation, and otherwise I've only seen complaints about how there's no Substack API evem though there is.
How have you been doing @Southkraut?
is a round-robin
and a small amount of random noise added to people's decisions
Well, that changes the things rather significantly.
(scoring on total utility over all players/iterations)
Come on, you've completely changed the meaning of the game at this point.
The fact that we're talking about it is proof that it's an effective way to raise your profile, no?
When demand exceeds supply, you gotta make do with what you have.
Yeah they do. You think that dude who harassed Central Park Karen was forced to upload it? You think it got leaked?
A sheathed sword ia still "open carrying", though I guess the girl would be screwed either way. Wonder how much this would be in today's money.
Pretty based law, I have to say.
Hopefully?
This wouldn't even raise an eyebrow when I was a kid, even if the adult stranger threw in a free can of whoopass for the kid. Admittedly those were different times, and Britbongistan is not Eastern Europe.
There's this thing called "anarcho-tyranny", or "two tier policing" as the Brits would have it.
BLM2 electric boogaloo. Or just raising your profile as a Stunning And Brave artist, which I think worked quite well, if that was the goal.
I would like to get the other side of the story, but preferably not from internet randos.
Because girls don't know a lot about intimidation. Not even on the streets.
I'm saying: not even trying, not trying and failing.
I am suspicious of all short videos.
As per the link from jkf, the dude is a """digital creator""". This video is short, because that's how he wanted it, which means he's hiding something. The quotes in the paper make him sound like OJ Simpson.
I'm calling it / doubling down: the whole thing is fake. She's not Braveheart, and he's not a poor migrant targeted by racist chavettes, which is what this video was originally meant to show, but backfired. The only thing left to find out is if he's working for an NGO.
The self-styled 'digital creator'...
Ok, things are starting to coalesce...
In the 45 seconds of footage I saw, the girl start out keenly aware that brandishing her weapons on camera is bad, wrong, or illegal. This is why the video starts with her hiding the weapons. Called out, the punk instinct kicks in, and she reveals her weapons.
That's the part that doesn't make sense to me. She doesn't look like she's even trying to be intimidating, and the punk instinct in this specific situation is to run, not to try to scare away a guy twice your size.
The other part that is suspicious is the length of the video. Why is it so short? Ok, maybe this is where he turned on the camera - why isn't it played until the situation is concluded? It obviously belongs to the guy, did he upload it? This specific cut of it?
Just like it was possible that Kyle Rittenhouse was a white supremacist, and that possibility carries on to the present.
The Rittenhouse narrative that the media tried to drum up made no sense from the start, it wasn't a case ofnmissing context.
I knew something was up with this when the alleged assailant was the one who recorded the video.
As others pointed out, this is completely nornal behavior from various creeps.
I agreed with Hoffmeister when he said something was off about this. In particular, the girl's behavior doesn't exactly scream "big sister trying to scare away stranger" or whatever was being sold. On the other hand, the way the video conveniently starts off not showing any context, and the way she meekly displays her weapons when pushed is inconsistant with whatever you guys are trying to sell.
You know what's better than tit for tat in game theory? Tit for tat with occasional forgiveness.
Wouldn't it be outperformed by tit for tat with occasional unwarranted defection?
Obama-Trump transition of power.
You mean the way one ordered the FBI to spy on the other, hoping he'd find something disqualifying?
...and it's completely irrelevant to cases such as thus one...
Plus, honestly, at this point, are you sure? This seems to have been true 20-ish years ago, when conservative culture in America had some slrt of presence. Nowadays? I'm not sure I'm seeing it. Do you have any examples in mind?
TL;DR: The battlefield to defeat SJP is the marketplace of ideas.
Tell me, why are we here, and not on Reddit?
Depends what you mean by "happen", as I was half-joking. There was a guy recording himself following some woman around the park. I think her dog was somewhere where they weren't allowed, and the guy was complaining about that. She wanted to be left alone, but after being ignored for too long, he pulled out some dog treats out of his pocket, and tried to get the dog to come to him. She freaked out, and started screaming that if he doesn't stop, she'll call the cops and tell th a creepy black man is stalking her. This during BLM times was seen as an implied death threat. She promptly became the face of racism, I thinkbshe lost her job, and for a while even her dog.
I don't think any NGO was involved, that part was the joke, but honestly at this point nothing would surprise me.
If this were the case, why is he following them around and filming? He’s walking toward them, and they’re backing away, not the other way around. Certainly I can believe that the two girls are not, themselves, “innocent” exactly. But it is very weird to follow two teenage girls around the park with a camera.
Okay, I got my conspiracy theory.
This was all pre-planned by one of those creepy NGOs to be a Central Park Karen situation kicking off Boat Migrant Lives Matters, except it backfired by being YesChadded into orbit.
That's fair, but like I said, I think it's more likely this is some 42D chess psyop, and the whole thing is staged.
Then they'd split in a second, and disappear in a metaphorical puff of smoke, not wait around until the dude pulls out a phone and starts recording. Even if he was quick on the draw, all you'd see is their backs running towards the horizon.

The US didn't lose for lack of violence. If they'd chimp out, the Taliban could just hide, wait until it blows over, at atart taking shots once the guard is lowered again. The technological disparity is an American diaadvatage there, because the costs of mobilizing a modern army are higher than leaving some IEDs on the road.
The reason why they lost is that they got high on their own supply about muh freedom, democracy, and whatnot. In some inverse of "magical dirt theory" they thought that if you give Afghans and Iraqis a few western institutions, they will become westerners, and neglected basics like teaching them that they should fight for their own country.
