And I'm pretty sure there's an attempt to get high profile regime-affiliated people banned to promote mastodon. It's what I'd do. (Then again, would a coordinated attempt to act like the worst people in the world look any different than usual?
Mind saying the series? That's hilarious--haven't experienced it since wondering why that Andre Norton chap kept writing about space rangers having Meaningful Emotional Moments with each other. I thought he was just European!

Just sorta shocked there are still people in that thread repeating "crime is at an all-time low, you're imagining things." Really rubs in that facts don't matter, only Daily Show matter. How do you even engage with deliberately invincible ignorance?
I've heard varying reports about that. I was able to make one several years ago, but there's been no skip option the last few times I've tested it (in response to other people having trouble). Yahoo also went from asking for a recovery email/cell to demanding a cell.
My IP's dynamic, so it's not like they have me blacklisted or whatever term google uses now.

BTW, I think maybe half the people here aren't American. There's a bunch of Indians and eastern europeans.
I've been vaguely following the new movement to ban using rappers gloating about murdering people in raps as evidence in their murder trials for murdering those people.
Combined with all the "getting his life together and becoming an aspiring rapper" in the obituaries/plea bargain letters, it seems like half the violence these days is muggers and shoplifters larping as drug dealers, then getting homicidally mad at each other for pointing out they don't deal drugs in Soundcloud feuds.

Is Protonmail really the only email provider you can just sign up to without a cell phone number these days? I thought my dad was paranoid for suggesting establishing multiple online identities ten years ago, but now I'm really glad to have them.
Really? Zero people have brought up musk with me, but two have mentioned SBF out of the blue on tangents from general "what to do with money/bloody banks" topics. Like "well just don't give it all to that Bankman guy"

I notice loading the cw thread really hangs by the end of the week. Is that just my shitty browser, or is it all the accumulated comments?
Maybe "house" oversells my trad hovelcube a little. It's much smaller than the American average, but then so are many castles. There are a lot of "reasonably sized houses" in the pacific northwest for some reason, and it's of typical construction for there.
If you have a ton of doors you can't leave open, adding a second unit or a multi-split might be the best option, but the airflow is high enough to push heat up the stairs and keep my 2nd floor within a degree of the 1st.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! I've been trying to find decent cocoa powder too, because swiss miss tastes pretty meh. Tried to mix my own cocoa with sugar and powdered milk, but could never get it quite right.
Man, I used to experiment with making hobnob biscuits, and eating the home made equivalent of a pack a week was really bad. It's a dangerous skill to learn.
And yeah, restaurants are off the table for me now, after the last $30 clearly frozen and microwaved dinner. But surely there's still good ones out there? Maybe just the ones out of my price range.

Don't feel weird, it's a problem I've been having too; normal meals are so good now that it's sometimes difficult to find something for special occasions. Fortunately(?) I'm poorfag enough that a ribsteak is still an expensive treat for birthdays, etc.

You're right that I jumped too hard, sorry. The whole "pretending not to get it" tactic on both twitter fed-censoring and the Sam Pantythief affair got me irrationally angry, and I lashed out.
Then I guess my answer to your question is "pretty well actually," because he actually seems to be learning that free speech absolutism can't be extended to groups that want to abolish free speech and destroy him. "So much for the tolerant right" is as lame an argument as when conservatives tried to use it to universal jeering and gloating.
I expected he'd eventually learn once he was in the driver's seat, but maybe he'll actually pick it up fast enough to avoid any stupid mistakes like providing the attackers a platform.

He wasn't just using the "private company spell," he spent a week acting shocked that anyone could have a problem with the government censoring people via a partnership with Twitter. I don't think he cares about the object level issue he's talking about, it's just a way of sneering.
And? The ban was done according to the rule against sharing people's location data, so what more do you want? It's a private company, after all. I hope all the vile antifa doxxing accounts targeting kids get banned and prosecuted too. What else can I say but "purge them, they have no right to free speech on someone else's platform"?
Can you point to an instance of you being upset about a non-leftist account being banned? Why do you care about this one?

I'm about to buy a whole batch of new 100Weqv light bulbs and possibly fixtures. Does anyone know what the best buy is? I've heard bad stuff about the quality and lifespan of cheap LEDs, but I'm kinda sick of CFLs; my old fixtures have been bare for years because the bulbs are too long for them.

It does! I'm in a similar situation with shade trees, but seriously thought about lopping them all down and doing it anyways. It was tempting to put a big "geothermal!" mark at COP5+ on the graph, but it was already too crowded.
Had to cut almost everything about ground-source stuff for length, but I think it's the future in cold climates, and Europe is making a serious mistake trying to push air-source units rather than street-level ground source. There's a tremendous amount of wasted heat flowing down every sewer pipe without even having to do any digging, and ultra-low-temperature local cogeneration would make even a simple gas turbine about 260% efficient.

I have so many graphs of absurdities like Germany's "sustainable energy revolution" fueled by burning wood chips and brown coal, and all I can do is gesture in helpless rage at how evil I find it all.

In fairness it's something that could have reasonably been said as late as... 2016-8? With the caveat that "well maybe the bump from the 2015 riots was temporary, right?" But still saying it after 2021 when even the NYT's acknowledged skyrocketing crime can't be anything but working on an out of date patch of TalkingPoints.dll.
