We are currently playing Culture War by a set of rules that gives me infinite tries and only allowed you temporary victories; and it is the same set of rules that means I can vote in as many elections as I like and choose between two dudes representing corporate interests but one has the pride flag.
So, I win the culture war. You loose the culture war. Maybe you make some headway here or there, but in the end all your causes will fail and all of mine will succeed, until they move beyond me and I become the reactionary.

That also, I don't know why I was focused on cruiss missles. 18th century brain. Of cource the main thing is to have an AA missle that doesn;t need pavel to jimmy rig it with bailing wire and a prayer.
Remember though that all the cruiss missiles Ukrain has are either subject to US targeting restrictions or rely on nato platform sauce to work; so having a native NATO platofrm to launch them from will provide a decent increase in their capacity to strike deep.
Even their limited number of ATACMS were of great effect;

I think you are overestimating Russia's ability to do get anything done on the offensive; which is at least as bad as Ukraines; and that the time limit goes both ways. Maybe Ukraine looses big daddy MICs black card and needs to go back to moletoves and prayers; maybe someone who has a whole new fleet of shiny f-35s coming in sends their old f16 block 40's to Ukrain and suddenly they have a platform that can fire air launched cruismissles well behind the lines; and can be refit to fire the shit that they aren't forbiden from WAY behind the lines.
Basically, I think Ukraine only gets knocked out of the fiight through wearieness, and the Ukrainians are still all about this shit; mainly because they can all speak russian and can watch russian TV. They know if they give up; they are not in for an easy ocupation.

Caveat: It can outproduce the EU in specific areas that are very important for Somme 2: Ukraine edition but not in other key areas like say, any plane that isn't significantly older than you.
This puts a limit on their ambitions, and REALLY incentivises them to get this done one way or the other before someone donates a 3rd string f16 block 40 NATO airforce from the 90's to Ukraine.

Maybe this is a one-story-two-screens thing but I would say it's the other way round, it takes a long time for awareness of "the transes and the SJWs" to filter through society but the more people see of it the less they like it.
I'm saying that this was true, but it's started wearing off here in the leading edge of every discourse. These dudes were real conservatives, they received the message, they performed the ritual actions, they mouthed every shiboleth.
All the aforementioned dudes have either become so kranked up that they have been subtly ejected from every single one of their non obligatory social circles because they went from "woke is bad" to 'I'm trapped in a fucking car with a guy they won't shut the fuck up about how the jesuits own an observatory in Arizona named LUCIFER' (I'm sorry the trauma came out there)
Or they have backed way the fuck off with the passion, the pride.
They are AGHAST about whatever the current target of outrage on fox news is; absolutely shocked they tell you, while sipping their budlight (metaphorically, this is so cal after all. They be sippin those local craft brews; maybe a nice cab from the inland valley.)
They no longer have the passion of the convert. They looked at the last 6 years, and realized all that shit they believed either wasn't true or didn't actually matter to them.

A: there is an such a thing as elite capture, but there is also such a thing as "Dude, nobody fucking likes you". The level of authentic dislike or lack of interest in conservatives and conservative politics people have is wildly underestimated in places like this; right down to me polling my crew of redneck proll tradies over lunch about the transes and the SJWs and the majority answer being a combination of "I don't care" or "What the fuck is that?"
B: So, in an attempt to solve A we switch to a more salient message: these groups are attacking you, destroying your "way of life", the fact that your life is worse than your dads or your granpappys is because of THIS! And that might work in the short run. It will work in the short run, even. But dudes I used to work with and still talk to who fully bought in to Trump style messaging are getting woke to the fact that nothing in their lives improved even with a three branch R sweep; that their boss still buys a new corvette every other year but their kid had to move back in 8 months after moving out or they would end up homeless.
The current problems politicos need to solve are the (1)disintegration of community sentiment and the (2)disintegration of the economic middle; and the strategies of the parties have been to say "Just hold hands and thing happy thoughts and we'll slap a few bandages on it and if you complain about (1) in the wrong tone you have 5 cousin fucking teeth you pathetic FUCK" from the dems, and "(2) is good actually you comunit bitch but actually both are because of immigrants(brown) and the gays but we won't actually do anything about either".
Both major parties aren't attacking the root of the problem, but people notice that the D's attack the symptoms and the R's at least will sympathies with your grievances. Both parties are fucked in the long run if nothing changes, but the R's are fucked sooner because they keep not even pretending to do anything with the policy goals of the bottom of of the top bottom alliance. (except abortion, and look how that's turning out.)

Perfect suggestion; they are for sure ready for some comics. I'll find some inofensive manga that they can binge if they like, maybe Dragon Ball. Some good clean slapstick and ultraviolence but fun.
Re. Tomes: The older one is about the age where I found a Wheel of Time book in the elementary school library for some god damned reason and was permanently afflicted with a love of 1500 page fantasy doorstoppers, but I don't want to scare them off.

The actual young family members I've seen recently all go to CA public schools as we (the extended family diaspora) all firmly believe that private schools are for richie riches or assholes. They are all doing something like whole language learning, and all are way more advanced in all subjects than any of the charter school kids I know (sample size: like 5. Basically worthless).
That said, they share some of my crazed book addict genes so maybe it's a worthless comparison.
That said that said: maybe I'm seeing these shitty results because this is the puritanical version of phonics where you aren't allowed to even look at a complete phrase incase it makes you go into hysterics, where as the public schools in my area are just doing common sense readings of"The Kuh AH TUH in the HUH AH TUH", you know what I mean?

As someone who has a fake going on the computer job and a degree, I've gotten roped in to tutoring/babysitting a psuedo family members kids. They go to one of those classical academy style charter schools everybody is excited about and got dANG: These 3rd - 5th graders don't know how to fucking read.
They are learning through something like systematic phonics (probably), where you learn letter and syllable sounds first; resulting in two kids who REALLY slowly scan through a sentence like human recursive descent parsers and one brighter middle schooler who totally ignored the teachers and taught himself how to read on his own by simply picking up a book and plowing through it.
Interestingly, one of the two kids in elementary is doing pretty good in math, so I gotta assume that the IQ is there. Little dude might be a little dyslexic, who knows?
Apropos: Anybody have any experience getting kids who can read but aren't very good at it interested enough in a book that they are willing to learn on their own? What are the kids reading these days? I'm gonna see if I can't find them a bigass children's science encyclopedia, that was my jam as a little babu but I welcome any suggestions from ya'll.

This assumes a level of robustness to the power grid that is not present, and will never be present under market conditions.
I mean, one kinda bad but not unknown or unknowable snow storm knocked out the grid for one of the richest areas in the richest country in the world.
Re. cheap energy: again, yes but. The only source of energy I know of that is dropping price is renewables, which I would not stake my life or even my extreme discomfort on.
Again, this could be solved easily with sufficient investment. I just don't believe that investment will ever come from any market driven source.

It's a real thing. When temperature and relative humidity get high enough at the same time, homeostasis breaks down. Sweating can no longer bring your body temperature low enough to prevent heat stroke, you brain starts to cook, your kidneys stop working, etc.
Eg, when the wet bulb temp. is above homeostasis and you have 100% relative humidity, you physically can't cool down even in the shade and you are guaranteed to die pretty quickly if you can't get inside or in a cave or something.
This is an unusual condition in the modern history of the planet and even in the BAD climate change timeline will be seasonal and local, but it has already started to happened in short bursts in eg. pakistan and the punjab region of india; where you get just extraordinarily shitty weather even in good times.

Grats, that game has some game to it..
My best game was probably Battlefield: bad company 2, where I would do silly challenge matches and kill servers. Eg, stand on the point nearest the enemy spawn and just never let anyone take it on my own while picking up every kit I saw dropped, etc.
BF:BC 2 was imo the high water mark for skill expression in mass market shooters; probably for the best they leveled it out in later installments. The level of oppression that good players could achieve in the attack helicopter or with smoke was too much for a casual knock around game.

I've never needed that much due to being heavily endomorphic and turning fat into muscle easily; but when I do feel the need to loose some weight I set myself a monetary budget and eat to that.
EG, post holiday blowout I put myself on a 30$ a week food budget for a while and eat very small portions of meat and lots of beans and stuff from the garden, type of thing.

Depends what you like; bulleit being low sweetness and rye forward makes it fairly unique in the reasonably priced range of big marketshare bourbons, IMO. I find Basil Hayden has a slightly overripe bannana fermented funk to it that I enjoy in rum but find distracting in whiskey (could be my pallet being oversensitive though, or just a bad bottle.)

I've been drunk twice in my life; both times from a cooking or workplace accident leading to me getting a face full of ethanol vapor and I still have at least 60-70 bottles collected.
You don't gotta be alchy to enjoy a fine booze; and not being a drunk means I can make my really good bottles last for months or years.
My lime tree is going nuts right now, so I've been drinking down my worst bottles of tequila, mezcal and rum in mixed drinks. Interestingly, a Mezcal margarita with with no triple sec, a small amount of agave syrup and hella orange bitters actually LOVES my most paint thinner and burning glove flavored mezcal.
Bad rum on the other hand is basically useless; it's bad because it tastes like weak fake caramel and suger instead of a tire fire; so there's not alot there to play with.

Sure you can. It's just called the Club. It's just based on economic class rather than race; but anyone in the club is HwHite by association. The poor whites (the trash ones, that is.
