I wonder how close Israel is to destroying Hezbollah completely. It'd be a shame if they had to stop when they'd almost got rid of them.

In the early nineties, I used to listen to Howard Stern (back then he was only on 92.3 K-Rock, WYSP, WJFK!) I eventually got tired of the frequent 10-minute ad breaks and lost track of the show, but I read an article a few years ago that implied, without actually saying it, that he had dropped his funny material and gone woke in his old age. Pity. I used to love hearing him go off on other DJs.

You saw this in its purest form in Russia in 1918-20, when people rejoiced at seeing former industrialists starving, in pauper's rags. This was during Ayn Rand's teenage years and did a lot to form her world-outlook!

Iran War: Really getting sick and tired of the endless "Trump threatens attacks, backs down promising that a 'deal' is just a couple days away, Iran resubmits the same proposals which basically amount to the US' total surrender with no concessions by Iran, Trump makes more baseless threats" cycle. I've lost track of how many times this has happened. Just end it, one way or another.
I've found myself wishing I was a mutant with immense psychic powers, so the next time Trump swears he's going to do something or other, I'd be able to force him to keep his promises!!

I'm old enough to remember the first VR hype in the early nineties. They made it sound like totally realistic VR sex with partners you created yourself, was only two or three years away. Seems like that isn't even on the farthest horizon now.

For the revolution and what led up to it, I recommend The Pride and the Fall by Anthony Parsons (probably have to go to a decent university library for this one), Shah of Shahs by Ryszard Kapuscinski, and King of Kings by Scott Anderson. For the subsequent period there's Revolutionary Iran by Michael Axworthy and Children of Paradise by Laura Secor. Also you might like Soul of Iran by Afshin Molavi.

Why are the Torres Strait Islanders always mentioned and stapled together with the Aborigines in these events? They have a completely different culture and way of life, and live so far from any Australian towns of any size that I'd be willing to bet 90+ % of Australians have never seen one in person.

I was under the impression that occupying the Gulf islands would make it easier than it already is, given the US' complete naval and air superiority, to destroy every boat, missile and drone coming from Iran - and that the current plan, given the redeployment of ground troops to the Gulf, was to do that.
The UAE has promised to help too; I assume they have minesweepers.
Thus the strait can be forced open. Continued US and Israeli bombing of launch sites, military factories and IRGC positions would make it so they could no longer strike back, and would either have to wave the white flag offering major concessions - or hopefully the Artesh would get fed up and turn their guns on what's left of the IRGC, seize power and call for peace. That's what I'm hoping for.

All of Pargin's books have interesting titles but, from what I see on tvtropes, are filled with a type of humor I don't really care for. I'd see a new title on the shelf, start to pick it up and then go, "Oh, not him again. FFS."
