Negotiate with Hamas and make peace including concessions.
Hamas wants the complete destruction of Israel. There are no concessions for that. It's like Jews making concessions to the Nazis.
Whichever conflict, whichever atrocity, it will always pay for partisans of whichever side to go start going "actually it was the other guys who did it!
This conflict started with one side publically committing atrocities on social media, so forgive me for not treating the two sides as equally likely to commit atrocities.
No, they still kept shooting rockets to kill Israelis.
At some point the people become the equivalent of draftees. You're permitted to kill the enemy's draftees.
They cannot be persuaded by words alone to stop doing this.
That's one of those things that's literally correct but misleading. They couldn't be persuaded by words, but they could be persuaded by Hamas stopping the rockets and terrorism, on top of some words.
Every time someone comes up with such an explanation, they should probably do due diligence and consider what those supporters would actually say.
Tribal societies in the Middle East don't go by Western ideas of tolerance and compassion. The supporters of Hamas would directly laud actions that are considered evil in the West for precisely the same aspects of them that make them considered evil in the West. They slaughter innocents and post about it to social media, because they're the kind of people who get joy from slaughtering innocents and posting it to social media.
If you mean that they wouldn't literally invoke Satan, sure, but that misses the point.
I wasn't actually asking you to steelman the KKK. I was pointing out that steelmanning is a bad thing to do here because that kind of steelmanning ignores the actual facts. It just isn't possible to honestly steelman Hamas or the KKK, any more than I could honestly steelman homeopathy or creationism.
The left may not be consistently anti-Israel, but even when not actually anti-Israel, it's anti-a lot of things Israel does, including border walls. So the answer is "pretty much nobody who opposes limits on immigration in the US supports it for Israel".
That reasoning would still apply for the KKK trying to attack someone in order to create anti-KKK backlash.
Millennium Challenge. See also the top answer from the defense consultant in this. Basically, Red "won" by using loopholes in the rules that failed to model reality.
(However, be careful in reading these. Another source claims that the motorcycle messengers thing didn't happen and I have no way to research whether it's true.)
Can you steelman the KKK now?
If you're suggesting that the 98 year old shouldn't be jailed because he isn't going to harm anyone, by that reasoning it would also be wrong to jail an ex-Nazi 10 years after the fall of Berlin. It's not as if someone 10 years after the end of the war is going to run another concentration camp, after all, nor is he going to take over the country in order to get himself allowed to build one.
If punishment is to be a deterrent at all, you have to precommit to punish criminals even when doing so prevents no future crimes. Once you have done so, your precommitment forces you to punish them. And "desire for revenge" is how actual humans precommit.
I've often asked people not to steelman attacks.
I never expected I'd have to say it about literal physical attacks.
DALL-E 3 can understand semantics for multiple characters engaging in different actions, even if it's not quite as aesthetic as Midjourney.
By chance, I tried it a lot of times (through Bing) recently for two characters, a man and a woman. It's pretty bad at doing this. It keeps giving both characters the hair color I specified for one, and gives the man a bag when I specifiy the woman has a handbag. "Holding nothing" doesn't affect this. "Holding a ball of fog" tended to produce fog anywhere in the picture half the time. Also, a woman with a dress had to be specified as Caucasian to prevent the word "white" from being applied to the dress.
You have to be dispossessed from something you actually own before you get to keep a claim going. If the Jews have an 1800 year claim, that negates the claim of the Palestinians from while they were still living there. If they don't have a valid claim from when they were still living there, they have nothing they can keep going for 80 years.
The statute of limitations in common law, in nearly all cases, only runs out if no redress is being pursued.
I'm pretty sure that Jewish prayers have included "next year in Jerusalem" and the hope to return to Israel for centuries.
Yes I am being slightly hyperbolic.
Being "slightly hyperbolic" amounts to "everything I say that someone calls me on, is hyperbolic. Everything I say that nobody calls me on, well, I got away with it". It's like "comedians" acting as serious political commentators right up until someone finds a hole in their story, which they then say was just part of the comedy.
North Korea isn’t the ultimate example of a hellhole country because it’s a dictatorship, or because the Kim family are absolute monarchs, or because its political system is brutally repressive, or even because of the lack of real rule of law. I’d go further and say it’s not even the gulags. It’s because North Korea is unfathomably poor.
It's unfathomably poor because of all the factors from your first sentence.
That's the current situation with cosmetic changes.
I don't think the sentencing for self-defense should be any greater than the sentencing for conspiracy to commit self-defense.
where it says that 3,208 Palestinian civilians have died from 2008 to 2020 (compared to 177 Israeli civilians over the same period),
That's the same thing I pointed out a couple of days ago. The fact that more Palestinians were killed doesn't mean that Israel has been more aggressive. It just means that that Israel's defenses work better. Counting deaths this way is a bizarre standard which implies that the more you successfully prevent people on your own side from getting killed, the more immoral you are.
Israel shouldn't lose points for preventing more Israelis from being killed and this making this comparison look bad.
This is Bulverism.

Triads are a thing.
If you paid off the KKK to stop lynching people, I'm sure a million dollars per member would convince them to stop lynching people. That is not really a reason to say "the KKK may be satisfied with something other than lynching people".
"Be satisfied" doesn't mean "be satisfied by any condition, no matter how unlikely". This is just another example of over-literalness on the Internet.
Taking any measures that would make divorce easier, even if they make divorce easier by making it fairer, signals lack of commitment to the marriage, so people won't do it unless they are so rich that they can countersignal.
