That is good - as with GMO ban. My concern in both cases are the long tail effects on the human body. In Europe and US we can afford the traditionally produced and expensive calories. I prefer the third world to be a test bed for such innovations for a couple of generations.

It is not about money. It is about attitude of the people living there towards life. It doesn't take too much of money to not throw trash on the street. Poor places look worn out but tidy. Slums look like slums because the majority of people living there don't gives a fuck. We had in our country - they demolished a ghetto to resettle in renovated socialist era prefabs. Guess what - they started giving out slums vibe almost immediately.

The traffic in India (Bengaluru) is amazing. My memory of being there in brand new car inside a river of scooter and our parktronik was beeping all the time because we couldn't get up to the speed for it to shut up. Also the concept of oncoming and our direction traffic being separated and contained in the right and left of the road was lost. And from the hotel I could hear the honking symphony 24/7
KL and Jackarta were worse when it came to speed of movement, but people obeyed the laws.

Recently Ukraine changed their subscription doctrine that deployment to the front is one way ticket. You only come back dead or disabled. That both reeks of desperation and will probably hurt Ukraine in the one area they had clear advantage over the Russians - their morale. So I guess the tonal shift is just regressing a bit to the reality on the ground.

Ukrainian lawmakers have for months debated whether to allow the longest-serving of Ukraine’s soldiers the chance to return home, or whether Russia’s unrelenting aggression means they cannot afford to allow exhausted soldiers to rest – an invidious dilemma that has sparked public outcry.
Soldiers serving for more than 36 months were originally slated to be allowed to demobilize and return home, but the provision was removed from a draft law following an intervention by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and military commander Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to Ukrainian lawmakers.

Because at some levels of obliviousness/recklessness it is on the victim. Especially when the fate has thrown her a warning or two. Like a girl going to a bar where you have warned her is junkies watering hole and then she follows one of the said junkies while he was high to his apartment when you pleaded her not to, and then she calls you panicked two hours lately while she is locked in the bathroom after attempted rape. Thankfully i got there in time and she got away from the whole ordeal with only a big scare.
Life is like a horror movie - after you ignore the side character, commons sense and pure luck's warning to turn back - whatever happens after you open the dark door and enter inside is on you.
Do you know the mechanism of the weight gain - I think that first you have to find out how they fuck you up - let's say they lower your impulse control - the solution will be different compared to something that fucks up your insulin regulation.
I will start looking at some other different addictions (wow, tiktok, porn, doomscrolling, realclearpolitics) you may have and see if you can cut them down - for some reason those things cascade.
Also remove artificial sweeteners from your life - one of the things I did couple of months ago was cut sugar free energy drinks and replace them with carbonated water with the juice of a half to one lemon - my health and weight took a turn for the better.
Movement - like simple walking or swimming could make a big difference if done regularly.
My opinion - you have to try and build (and remove) habits because they don't need much willpower to sustain once formed.

I feel this is good place to post recent events in Vanderbilt college. So a group of pro Palestine students decide to make a sit in and occupy a building. The university responds with the mildest possible measures (not letting them access bathrooms) instead of folding over and well - the protesters don't look that good when you ignore their crybulling.
During an Instagram Live hosted around 6:30 p.m. CDT, one protestor described that they have needed to urinate “for at least five of the nine hours” that protesters have been inside. They stated that a VUPD officer told them that they would only be allowed to use the restroom if they agreed to be escorted out of the building. The protester stated that they are prone to urinary tract infections and kidney infections and, thus, are especially worried about their health.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. CDT, student protestors stated that one protestor was experiencing early symptoms of toxic shock syndrome such as pain, nausea and fever symptoms. Officers told the person that they still could not use the restroom without being removed from the premises, so they decided to remove their tampon during the sit-in. Students report feeling sick, dehydrated and nauseous. A university representative did not immediately respond to The Hustler’s request for comment about whether medical personnel would be allowed into the building if a student was experiencing a medical emergency.

going to 32GB would not have been standard, and it'd probably cost you upwards of 250 USD in RAM alone.
My PC built in 2016 with skylake (2015) had 64GB ram. My assembled in 2010 had 32. And with developer salaries being what it is - it was always affordable even in Eastern Europe.

I don't know where this myth came from - usually bad extensions are the memory hogs.
this is my VSCode at the moment - 3gb ram - way less than my browsers. And 32 GB ram was baseline dev computer 8 years ago.

Also every porn movie with female leads has worse acting, plot and characters and yet is welcomed by male audience. I think this totally disproves the misogyny narrative.
On a more serious note - the van damme movies were good where they mattered - the action. Nobody watched them for the plot. Also it's not like men shunned Cynthia Rothrock or the likes.

- I think this is a pretty bad argument in the gun rights contexts, and I think it's about as bad in the AI context. If the government is truly dedicated to putting down a rebellion, then a well regulated militia isn't going to stop them.
Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and their militia wasn't even well regulated.

The US is the size of continental Europe and also has Canada and Mexico grid connections. Honestly for the rest of the post - I think that the newly released Bad Therapy - Abigail Shrier answers what is going on. Too much feelings too little real world. Also - from my observations there is an absurd disheartening and nihilism ( and not the fun kind) that moves trough western society youth. Learned helplessness is the norm. And it is combined with so easy going attitude towards deviance that in a way we are living in an anarchy - like people that glue themselves to the roads or defacing art face no consequence.

There are maybe 10 AAA games that have ever been released with passable writing, and probably two thirds of them are from two studios (Rockstar and CDPR).
Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale 1 and Heart of the winter, Planescape Torment, Batman Arkham Asylum and City (lets pretend the others didn't happen, please), VTmB, Silent Hill 2 & 3, Soul Reaver 1 & 2, Clive Barker Undying, Portal 1 (okay, not quite AAA but brilliant), Portal 2 (weaker writing than portal 1, but classes above most of the modern crap), Assassin's creed II, Fallout New Vegas,
I would say that in the golden age of PC games - roughly 1997 - 2007 -sh good writing was expected from games that were supposed to have writing.
Edit: Freya in God Of war and god of war ragnarok have quite the visual differences and not in the favor of the ragnarok ones.

So it probably was sandy bridge. It wasn't xeon with certainty. Too many years. I remember having core 2 duo 2006 or 7 with 8GB, I remember that the PC I built in 2016 had 64 (which I still hasn't changed, the performance growth in everything but the GPUs have been pathetic), and I remember that it replaced a PC with 32 - so it probably was early 2011. Also possible I build one in 2010 with 16 and then one in 2012 with 32.
Anyway RAM was peanuts compared to the payroll for developers so it didn't make any sense to not pump their workstations.
Nothing, but do it faster. Israel lost too much time initially - if they had pacified Gaza completely with 100000 civilian casualties, but got it done before 1st of November it would have been probably forgotten by now.
