I find progressive girls sexier in general than conservative girls,

Nothing wrong with liking fat chicks.

I think you get it, actually. You're not sharing sincere beliefs, you're telling jokes and dunking on people.

You're hot and rather than actually commit to opinions you joke about them and turn them into flirtatious teases. This works because you're hot and women want to fuck you, but it's not actually a sign of them accepting your beliefs; even you don't seem to accept them, as you note, you're trolling and playing rather than demonstrating any sincerity.

This works for one night stands and FWBs. If the sexual chemistry is good enough, might even work for a short relationship. I'd be surprised if it worked out for a long-term serious relationship.

"I am mildly inflammatory to enough people on a small forum that you shouldn't use me to measure the rest of the forum" isn't exactly a lofty claim.

What I'm suggesting is that the difference between "carefully absorbs knowledge to synthesize into new and personal understandings" and "recklessly takes in nonsense from unreliable internet sources to parrot" is largely the difference between whether you respect the person and their viewpoint or not, and not any sort of intellectual rigor. Some of the dumbest social media hot takes are from academic wordcels who live and breathe their ideologies and by all rights are reasonably high IQ.

I get you on the analytical bit, I appreciate good conversation and coherent thoughts when having serious talks. But alas, you're right: we can never be. I'm pretty aggressively anti-philosophy.

"I'm not child-focused" is probably a plus on hookup sites. The castration's a problem, though.

I'm not saying it goes for every vote, but I am saying if you want to make any conclusions about this place someone else would be a better sample.

Ah, sorry. I'll elaborate on why a pair of them are anti-leftist:

Children don't know who or what they are with any confidence. I am wholly and non-negotiably against gender affirming surgeries, medications, therapies, etc., etc., for alleged transgender children. Almost all left-coded policy toward children runs headfirst into the "mental/emotional cruelty" limit I have. The over-sexualization, drag queen story hours, Pride parades, etc.

I am White, as is my family. If you take common anti-White leftist stances, you are obviously incompatible with my family and myself; support of affirmative action, reparations, white guilt, gaslighting on racial truths, etc., is all unacceptable.

--

This means standard LGBTQ activism and the typical position on race relations in the US from the left are completely, intolerably unacceptable. And there's more, I just provided a brief finite sampling rather than exhaustively bare my soul to you. Just take my word for it: I'm firmly incompatible with leftism.

You shouldn't look for any greater patterns in my vote tallies -- I post enough controversial positions that my vote tallies really only speak for people's opinions on me, and not their opinions on my posts.

Even the Devil can quote scripture. A dead god is a mouthpiece for whoever cares to speak.

Yes, the sects send different signals, but the matter isn't obedient vs independent.

What is the difference here between "taking marching orders" and "absorbing things they read and forming opinions"? Why is it different to be inspired by Marx than by LibsOfTikTok?

It's hard to summarize a personality in a list or a handful of sentences, but a few of my non-negotiable stances in a relationship:

No hard drugs, hard defined here as "I don't care if you drink or smoke, or even go to a concert and drop molly, but no you're not becoming a meth-addicted shell, avoid the cocaine, etc"

There will never be another man involved in our relationship romantically or sexually; women are fine, and my girl and I have dabbled, but there's a one cock policy in my world.

No abuse of children, with abuse defined as excessive use of physical force, sexual contact, or prolonged verbal/mental/emotional cruelty. No, you're not abusive if you have a rough day and yell at your kid or even smack them, you are abusive if you have a 'rough day' five nights a week and your kids visibly cringe around you. There's a difference between disciplinarian and bastard.

I am entitled to sex and sexual services. This entitlement does not mean at any moment, regardless of situation -- it means that, as a rule, there's a non-negotiable expectation that a good faith effort is being made to satisfy my sexual appetite.

Communication is important. I've long learned not to even bother investing in someone who is unwilling to frankly communicate.

You don't have to love my pets but you do need to not hate them. I'm not going to start a relationship with someone that has "it's the dogs/cats/whatever or me" as an ultimatum down the line.

You have to get along with my family. Non-negotiable, no politely tolerate them but want to get out of social meetups and hang-outs ASAP, being with me long-term necessarily means being part of my family and interacting with them.

I'm in charge. I'm old-fashioned and chauvinistic like that. When I'm with a woman, I expect her to yield to me. She's allowed a voice, and I actively do want her input and opinions, but when the decision's made I expect compliance.

--

I believe that covers a broad range of core values; a woman who finds any of the above intolerable is a woman I will not even consider beginning a relationship with. There are more, but the examples should suffice.

Sure. Political differences are like cultural clashes. In which case, same answer: yeah, you can make it work, but it's sure a lot easier to not have to.

I said "who aligns with you on core values", necessarily indicating that disagreement on non-core values is negotiable. That's the line: values important enough to you that you will not compromise on them.

Live somewhere red enough the government isn't trying to destroy you and won't help other governments do so either.

Maybe there's some kind of meta-political belief underlying that, like obedience vs intellectual independence.

You describe obedience in both cases; the only difference you mention is the target of that obedience. Why is deference to Marx any less submissive than deference to Twitter? At least Twitter occasionally has good ideas.

Not Walter, but I'd tell them the same thing I would if they insisted they were a t-rex: that's nice, buddy, go outside and chase dinosaurs.

You can make it work, but why would you want to? Date someone who aligns with you on core values. I don't bother letting leftists into my life, and it's better for everyone that way: I don't need to deal with them, and they don't need to deal with me.

I've been with my girl for the better part of a decade. We met early twenties, and now I'm a gray-bearded, prematurely-bald thirty-something. She was more leftist when we first met, but not left-wing. Had she been, I don't think we'd have ever moved past the initial idle flirtation stage. Strong political disagreements is such an immense obstacle and even if you can tolerate each other god forbid you try to start a family.

You want me to explain my values? It would have been easier if you'd just asked for that in the first place. I don't bother with this often because values, being terminal as they so often are, have no real value being communicated to someone with different intuitions. So I'll answer this for you, but I expect it to not be persuasive.

So, broadly, I reject notions of universal right and wrong. Whether something is moral or not is a personal choice we make for ourselves, which we then pit against the collective opinions of the society around us in the hopes of making our personal aesthetics the community norm. For myself, this moral aesthetic is tribal, with concentric rings of fidelity based on first personal and blood relationships and then on social and symbolic relationships. Me against my brother; my brother and me against our cousin; my brother, my cousin, and me against my town; my town and me against our state; my state and me against.. etc., etc.

The wider out those circles get, usually, the weaker the connection felt and loyalties owed. Furthermore, it is always moral to support an inner ring over an outer ring, provided that support does not violate a different inner ring. Some examples:

If my brother gets in a fight with a stranger, I take my brother's side. If my brother gets in a fight with my sister, I evaluate their conflict on its personal merits and intervene or not as I deem appropriate.

If my town is having a competition with other towns in the region, I support my town. I'll root for my local teams and prioritize local businesses. This extends up to the national boundary: I'll support Team USA over Team France in any given sport, and if I had to pick between the world dying off or America dying off I'd sacrifice the world in a heartbeat.

I am not swayed by any common brotherhood of man, so my widest circle of concern is the country itself. This is also the weakest circle, and it is on the threshold of ceasing to be one entirely due to the culture war; the more proof I see that 'the nation' is not really a coherent group that shares my values anymore, the less I feel a part of it. As it stands, the country is roughly split into Red America and Blue America -- I'm still loyal to Red America, but I've firmly checked out of Blue.

Relating this back to the illegals issue, it is simply not offensive to my moral sensibilities for the in-group to violate the out-group. Illegals have no positive moral worth whatsoever to me. I will not support punishing employers for skimming illegal wages and using them as cheap labor for the benefit of the rest of us. There is nothing you can do to an illegal, as an American citizen, that bothers me, other than helping them get here to begin with.

Lower status by far is consternation about people's consternation; "why do you care so much?" is, as always, a malicious trick of a phrase, designed to shame people into not noticing or being silent.

It is appropriate to care about the Little Mermaid and oppose it for the same reason the shepherds of culture support it and promote it: control over the building blocks of culture is significant.

If you want to find peace, eventually you have to see the issue from the perspective of both sides and be able to come up with a solution that acknowledges the physical reality and the concerns of both sides.

Or seek the total elimination of the side perceived as evil, as you note in the prior sentence.

So this is a lot of explaining why you can't do things to fix the problem with a couple vague and halfhearted overtures to possible ways to fix it, maybe, you have to think about it more.

I thank you for going along with what I asked, and you are correct, the answer is unsatisfying -- but also completely expected. I've been accused lately of bad faith and making assumptions, so I thought I'd explore the next leftist's ideas rather than go with what I presumed.

Of course, in the end, my assumption would have been correct: you aren't explicitly open borders or for illegal immigration, but... yeah, you support it.

Well, we all learned a lesson, here: basic pattern recognition works and assumptions are reliable.

Interesting! So there are right-wing utilitarians here. Well then, I hope you can provide him a good answer to his concerns.
