The disgust is what makes the empathy sincere. It is no great love to love the beautiful, the abled, the pleasant; that is natural, and all people love them. But love the leper -- disgusting, oozing, broken, repulsive, dangerous? Well, now that's a shining soul.
The crippled are innately worse people. They are crippled. Those who rise above their limitation through hard work and grit warrant a certain respect, but for the most part, the broken are gross. Being hovered over by a super autist is uncomfortable. Watching a kid with a Downy stroke-face flip his shit is uncomfortable. Seeing some strung-out junkie piss himself on a bus arouses disgust.
If you can't acknowledge that the dregs of society are in fact viscerally repulsive, then tolerating them is no sign of virtue. Of course you tolerate them. They're fine, apparently!

If we knew that, sure, but we know she's not, as diversity has been an explicit, loudly-opined goal of the bloc supporting her. While it's possible she's the best candidate, it's so unlikely as to beggar belief, and I know you don't really think she was. You get what you optimize for, and they're not optimizing for the best person.

Yes, that's war. People on both sides die. It's why we use proxies, so that people don't have to die en masse. But the more faith in the proxies falters, the more one side dominates the processes and subverts the systems, the more reason there is to abandon the proxies.

I do not believe there's a sincere desire in the masses to reconcile, nor do I believe there's a practical way to do so. The tribal divisions may once have been small and manageable; but, like a cancerous tumor, they have swollen to terrible splendor, and insinuated themselves into every facet of life great and small. We are not one people who disagree on some things; we are, at a minimum, two completely antagonistic populations forced to occupy the same space.
There cannot be one nation ruled by two tribes. We will divorce or we will come to blows, eventually. One will become two or two will become one.

My thoughts are that feminism began as a misguided quest to treat women like men, then was adopted by bitter harridans and predatory men who realized the sexual revolution and increasing destruction of traditional mindsets would secure them steady supplies of consequence-free young pussy (a boon for the latter) at the expense of the stability and health of our previous culture (a boon for the former).
The goal of feminism is to let women be the type of men they've always hated. It's no surprise this suffocates fertility.
That can't happen if one tribe or the other simply leaves.
This inevitably devolves into the norms catering to the biggest crybaby, which in practice again means the norms of the community are implicitly leftist.
You don't seem to disagree with me, you just think it's good and necessary. I firmly disagree, but that's a value judgment we all have to make for ourselves.
edit: also I'd recognize you and Hylnka both as fellow Reds, but you are an extreme minority. I maintain this place is overwhelmingly Blue, for the reason that blue norms are friendlier to leftists, and it's a leftist space.

The argument is that "the right to speak your mind without being punished" - i.e., that the Powers That Be should not be able to define what you are or are not allowed to say - is innately valuable.
How can speaking your mind be valuable if the speech itself is not? What about you, random person, is so incredible that the mere act of saying your shitty thoughts out loud transforms them into something worthwhile?
You say it's a strawman, I say it's a necessary component to free speech. The human soul is not an alchemic chalice transforming lead into gold, here.

No, I'm quite comfortable saying that when you optimize for X you're going to get X, not Y. If you want to pretend these people are meritocratic, they need to start optimizing for meritocracy, not diversity, very, very loudly.
As for the what-if, my answer is "I reject the hypothetical". If things were different they'd be different. That's not useful.

I have less than zero interest in the legal ineptitude of Trump's legal team; Trump selects for loyalty, not competence, which is understandable but has predictable consequences. The various factors I've mentioned have long been confirmed, regardless of Team Trump's (in)ability to navigate hostile systems.

My point is that I don't think you should base your perception of good leadership, bad leadership, corrupt leadership, etc., etc., on whether someone is with or against Putin. Putin is not the root of all evil and worthy of being the measure by which all else is judged.

I predicted that Russia would win but it would be slow, bloody, and unpleasant affair lasting a few years. I'm less confident in that prediction with how pathetic Russia's been, but I can't say for sure I was wrong until late 23 or so. I will say Russia's incompetence was surprising; I knew they'd declined, but the degree of that decline was above and beyond.

Blacks were steadily improving from the end of WWII until about 1975. It was the import of mostly white originated social experiments in replacing the traditional family structure with welfare and single motherhood that ruined it, so whites have a duty to fix what they've made.
I am comfortable accepting the notion of racial guilt and the need to address the mistakes of the past, provided we start at the early 1600s, not the 1970s.

If it meant that, we'd see things like rule changes to make proggy blues more comfortable; maybe we'd even see topic bans to slow the reds down; we'd see notorious blue-aligned posters get away with nearly anything, consistently (it'd be quite a.. Darwinian environment); we'd see bans consistently hitting one side of the political divide harder than the other. We'd see moves to enshrine blue values like pathological civility and gullibility into the very DNA of the forum.
In other words, we'd be where we are.
Again, CWR seems as though it provides exactly what you want, yet you are posting here and not there. Why would this be the case, if this place did not provide something CWR lacks?

It's all the same thing with different phrasings. He is accusing you of being a groupie and intrinsically low status.
The idea that speech is innately valuable is intuitively wrong to many, myself included -- free speech as a principle has always been an underdog struggling against human nature.
