Yeah this is a great way to put it. Plus it’s just fun to talk shit!!!! The interactions make me laugh like crazy sometimes.
Hah I love that. I haven’t heard anyone credit games specifically for literacy but it makes a lot of sense. I’m sure it’s pretty common.
I’ve done a bunch of single player as well, but glossed over it in the post. In fact I stopped competitive gaming altogether during my lull in gaming, but would still occasionally binge a good rpg like fallout or Skyrim.
I definitely agree that gaming is an entire medium, with a world of difference in terms of how you engage.
I thought I was done with gaming hard, until I got a boring hybrid corporate job where I have no hope of advancing due to outsourcing. I get my basic tasks done during the workday, then I game. It’s not perfect but it works for me for now hehe.
Ahh funny when I sent this through an AI to proofread, it changed it to the apparently correct version, and I changed it back. Good to know!
Is that a bad thing? Society being more feminised has led to a drastic reduction in everyday violence. I’m glad there was no serious physical bullying when I went to high school, judging by older generations and media depictions, it was rampant and traumatic.
Depends on your view. Personally I think it's horrifically bad for men, and bad for society overall over time. Yes everyday violence has decreased, but deaths of despair and general malaise are on the rise, lack of social cohesion, lack of plain role models and legible life paths for people to follow. Much of this is related to the dearth of the masculine.
Do you think masculinity as a whole is bad or evil?
Idk if I'd say comfortable necessarily, but I think the vast majority of men throughout human history related this way. It's only recently as we have become extremely feminized as a society that it stopped. Nowadays, I'd hazard a guess but over 50% I'd imagine in the U.S. Far greater worldwide.
Not sure I can explain it to an autistic person, but it's basically something like - you're fighting for status but in a fun way? I'm sure there are better explanations out there. I'm not sure I get it myself tbh.
Probably a skill issue. Ideally you just learn to move more loosely over time with the dance. For me the more nervous/tense I hold my frame the more exhausted I get.
Alcohol also can help, if that's your thing.
Congrats! We are getting married in October so no advice yet, other than I have also had nerves. I know how it goes. Most people say it's quite normal, especially if you're somewhat anxious.
Emotions and trauma inform a lot of decision making. Many ppl are blind to it.
Yeah very much agreed. I love the Motte but most folks here have a huge blindspot when it comes to attachment, trauma, and emotions more generally.
Yeah couldn’t agree more with this comment. The reasoning around it is all so flawed - to me it’s orders of magnitude more likely to be a lab leak just looking at the basic facts. Crazy how people wrap themselves into knots trying to prove it wasn’t.
This doesn’t feel AI generated to me. I liked it.
Started rereading The Dresden Files after my fiancés uncle kept raving about it. It’s a fun romp so far, though I had to laugh at all the “science hasn’t solved disease, or starvation, or war.” I’m religious myself, but science has a strong case for mostly solving all three of those.
Oh I didn’t mean lying to the woman!!! More like finding a female companion to spend your life with, but you both are aware and have other arrangements on the side.
Idk it sounds like you understand the complementary nature of men and women, so I wasn’t sure if you’d considered a more platonic life partnership, something like that.
Fascinating view. Thanks for sharing.
Have you ever considered marrying a woman anyway and having a sort of beard-like arrangement?
Oh absolutely man it’s a joy to play. Such simple fun, I miss it.
Still playing island defense the Warcraft 3 custom game. It’s a blast.
I’ve been thinking of getting back into classic, played somewhat recently on a private server. It’s an amazing game.
Well, because he uses the exact same language in the higher level post, lol.
I want to make a standalone game. There’s already a custom map that I’m playing now.
Hmmm another dev interested in this is saying Unity. Seems tough to learn.
You could always charitably donate it to me if you REALLY don’t want it. ;)
As someone with almost no experience I want to use AI code a game that’s basically a top down build and chase tag type game, think rts custom mod.
How feasible is this? What should I use? AI says Godot but I have no idea if that’s a good suggestion.

Me you and @cjet79 should pick up a game again. Could be fun!
