The worst gerrymandered states are all Dems? Really? the most offensive examples that i'm aware of are all in the south and all in favor republicans. I know in NY the dems tried to do a big redistricting a few years back but the state supreme court nixed it and they got much less meat off the bone than they hoped for.

either way, i'm no expert on the quality of district lines across the country but this list seems relatively nonpartisan (as far as commentary on this issue goes) and seems to paint a picture that neither party comes out looking clean if we wanna call gerrymandering a sin.

ok and i talked about videogames. are we mad at eachother?

Ludonarrative dissonance is, as far as i can tell, fully accepted terminology at this point. Clint saw a phenomena that we all felt and put a (kinda nerdy) name to it. Culture was formed when he decided he wanted to talk about why we kill everyone who looks at us funny in games yet we are the protagonist.

Anyway, Halo 3 was the only one i played a bunch of, and it must have been 20 years ago now, jesus. The stand out feature for my young mind was the online service, xbox live. Original xbox live chat was so far removed from any modern version of internet culture that it would baffle the sensitive minds of todays youth. Taking offense to something was a sign of weakness (as it ultimately is) and talking shit was just part of the game (rip).

blah blah blah i wish i could still call people retarded yada yada im old and lame.

the OG redditards made the rules and they said upvoting is for useful info, downvotes for fake shit

also i wanna elaborate that i mean actual reddit, not here where the upvotes send you to valhalla

we must retake our homeland, yes

the steelman would be something along the lines of "they CAN prove it (because they are a natural born citizen) but not necessarily within the required timeframe due to scheduling issues or other paperwork hangups"

I think the adoption rate of real ID is a decent stand in for approximating how many people have their birth certificate, original SSN card, and a tax return available at the ready.

And if you can't prove that you have the right to vote, why should anyone believe you?

when only 20% of the population in some states meets the bar for the new voting regulations, i think the onus falls back on the side that wants to disenfranchise over half of the census answering people.

intrinsic properties

Im gonna be pedantic and state the obvious. Most homes are geographically fixed, which is what causes the supply imbalance in areas that are desirable for whatever reason. This is a fairly unique property that introduces a lot of inelasticity that other markets in the consumer sector don't share.

Even if you could teleport houses into LA you still wouldnt fix house prices there because you'd have to find land to put them on, and thats before we even look at other factors that keep the housing market on a death march upwards such as inflation.

I imagine at some point urban population density will have a ceiling on how desirable it is to live in megacity block 13-A (formerly west village) but even the US's most dense cities like NYC are too nimby-ed up to actually let the market build the amount of vertical living space that the city currently could handle, let alone a scifi amount that plateaus the housing prices.

what links to high ranking state officials are there? im under educated on the whole somali fraud situation but aside from having some white women in the upper echelons of these fraudulent orgs i havent seen anything that points to, for example, the grants being given to them knowing that they were fraudulent

Also i feel like your take would be a lot more reasonable in a world where the president didnt just send his anti immigrant task force to one of the states with the least illegal immigrants per capita. Easier to be the epicenter of resistance when youre also at the epicenter of the opponents crosshairs

sure its her fault, ice stilll shot her. ice has done more than just round up immigrants

yeah trump sent ice to minnesota because its been in the news and ..... man what else is it about minnesota that trump might want to send ice for. hmmm. maybe theyre out there rounding up all the illegal somali immigrants. right.

definitely not just to agitate libs, no shot. (3 shots actually)

well yeah except for that one white lady they domed, but hey. omellettes and eggs ya know.

I'd be happy with ICE if they were just going around rounding up illegals, but from what i see of them on the news it looks like a large part of their job is standing around in places that maximally pisses libs off, and i gotta say they are absolute machines at that part of the gig.

I take umbrage with the term "fully in front" but share your interest in not wasting time caring about this, so in that spirit i'll agree that it did all happen really fast

bullet hole in the windshield

im not like, a firearm forensics guy so someone may be able to tell from the photos we have, but from where he was standing when he shot it makes way more sense to me that the bullet went in the drivers window and out the front windshield.

I had the same thought when i saw this. Do people think standing in front of traffic is an idiotic thing to do, or stunning and brave? Further ironic if, like i heard, this all started because the lady parked her car in a way that intentionally disrupted traffic.

Its people confrontationally standing in front of stuff they dont need to be and feeling threatened in both corners!

my question i guess, why are ICE agents fucking with sideways cars, is that part of their job? If this was normal uniform city cops i feel like this would have a much better chance of not going so sideways.

isnt wrestling similarly confined by sportsmanship? For instance i would imagine most holds would be easier to get out of if gouging the at the grappler's eyes was an allowed strategy or pocket knives were allowed in the sport.

outside of some form of codified decorum the half drunk guy with a gun wins more martial contests than all the other combat disciplines except sober guy with a gun

nobody starts off as a loser you have to work to get there

I want to agree with the sentiment but the thought process that lets one realize that seatbelts don't actually do anything if you don't crash your car is also what allows people to realize that you can sell cocaine and get rich as long as you dont get busted.

Risk aversion has its place in the world, but just like snorting cocaine some things are best in moderation

Of course it isn't symmetrical, why would it be. Imagining that rednecks don't have their own ways to socially police rhetoric they disapprove of is just as foolish as attempting to be the squeaky wheel in any other workplace where there is a clear politically correct position to have.

And fwiw, if a guy takes naps in his truck he should and will get fired. I'm thinking more along the lines of "yeah that new guys a flaming faggot, i dont want that mf around me all day". I've had jobs where that could be a pretty persuasive argument to the crew in general. I kindof imagine being strongly conservative as a college professor is similar. The old guard can smell that you are different, they don't like it, they concoct some bullshit offense for you to have unknowingly committed.

The organizational structure of a pro-chud HVAC contractor is different enough from corpo HR nonsense that the enforcement of social norms is way different.

What i mean, if you are working in a labor intensive trade and the team you are working with really doesn't like you, they will try to convince the boss that you suck at the job (if you are new on the team this will be easy). If that doesn't work the most roided guys will threaten to beat your ass while the rats plot against you.

The chuds can make quitting because you don't like eachother a very appealing option on their home turf, in the event that they decide someone really doesn't fit in.

I've heard of this type of thing happening a few times, and surprisingly none of the aspiring electricians and house framers had much of a twitter presence to complain about it to.

i'm talking about converting money into political capital, not about how broad censorship can be. Paying off youtube is probably possible but not cheap, and to cover all your bases it would be very expensive (or require already having political power as we have seen before)

If i had a million bucks to run a fucky political campaign id buy more shills and pay off less censors.

The difference is that hiring reddit moderators to delete wrongthink only works on reddit, hiring actual shills to say positive things about your position can work on any online platform and can theoretically convince people to parrot your talking points IRL, which is way more impactful than reducing your opponents arguments to [message deleted] in one tiny sliver of the internet

good thing i wouldn't hold him up as one, but my point isnt that he his a virtuous person or even that he represents my views. That he is on the left and participating in the kind of live events you claimed that NOBODY on the left would DARE to even attempt makes the whole diatribe about how people like him don't exist seem kinda silly.

he was something that ONLY appears on the right.

ANY left-leaning commentator you could name.

Well, you listed some examples of people who you don't think meet the criteria, i think probably the most comparable person on the left is Destiny. For all his moral shortcomings, both alleged and photographed, the guy does essentially the exact kind of events Kirk was doing.

I'm not fully aware of the dem college campus debatelord universe but i do imagine there are more examples if i was to look into it. IIRC there was a whole traveling circus of these types who got into an internal struggle session the week they were supposed to start a collegiate tour earlier this year (which, yes this is funny but it also shows that there are more personalities in this space than i am familiar with)

You can say a lot of things about the dire state of the broader left wing's willingness to engage in debate, but there are a number of people of varying levels of success and organizational prowess either doing or trying to do what Kirk did, so i think you are putting too much emphasis on how uniquely brave his actions were.

RIP though, he didn't deserve to die for his beliefs, and certainly not by public execution.

So when the IRS calls you tell them what, that you manage exactly 1 successful onlyfans model who happens to give you a very generous portion of her income? Whole thing sounds like a lot of work unless the cash you want to launder is essentially already from pimping.
