Well, yeah… The alternative is that Trump is completely untethered from reality, and that doesn’t appear to be entirely the case.

Not really. None of the issues in PA and WI happened in Florida. Florida is another state that used to have large Democrat machines that were routinely accused of fraud, but you could never quite prove it. Then Desantis came in, cleaned up the dirty voter rolls, streamlined the counting process, tightened up the vote by mail process (particularly post date rules and signature rules), got rid of insecure drop box, and then actually enforced all of that.

And magically no shenanigans. No more Miami-Dade reporting after the rest of the state had been done for hours. No more pallets of ballots magically being found at 3am. Etc etc. It turns out there is great evidence for fraud happening, because why you engage in active election security, all these suspicious activities disappear.

They fought a small town that doesn't have any weapons and still haven't really been able to win in a year. The only thing they manage to do is get weapons as welfare checks and blast large numbers of civilians.

They are barely fighting that war. Again, they have to take into account the opinion of American leftists who view military competency as evil and think hiding rocket launchers in hospitals and preschools are legitimate tactics.

I think the education-industrial-complex is probably the driver of the vast majority of these gaps. The male experience in school has become increasingly miserable. And their opinions of the opinions of the overwhelmingly female/feminine teacher class is reflecting a rebellion from those views. Whereas school is now the ultimate feminized environment where traditional female status games are the primary ones that are allowed to exist and are directly encouraged by authority figures.

Follow up question, does abstinence only sex education show any efficacy in preventing pregnancies?

Certainly not in the current welfare-state environment. It seemed like a stable norm, when combined with shotgun weddings, in previous environments.

Too much of this problem is derived from the coddling of your "autistic nerds" being allowed to sit out gym glass, walk the track, etc instead of having to do pull ups, push ups, and windsprints every day. School PE should mirror boot camp in most respects with a bit of additional recreational sports added in.

Well, sure. My priors is we have known about machine fraud for centuries and nothing has changed so why would it stop?

I am increasingly sympathetic to the idea that systems too complicated for stupid people are deeply unfair, even if I personally have no trouble understanding and even benefitting from these systems.

While I understand the general sentiment, the OP's thread is about car insurance, and quite frankly, the people who don't understand car insurance should not be given sympathy, they should have their licenses pulled. Not only are these people, statistically, terrible drivers, but by not having/not having enough insurance they just are a driving externality on the road. The solution isn't to make insurance easier to understand (its already incredibly easy), the solution is to put it on the drivers exam and fail people over and over and over until they learn. Or learn that they can't learn.

Basically every state that I know of has statutory holding periods for crimes that the officer merely has probable cause on, but not enough evidence to charge yet. 48 hrs is very standard for this time period. By way of example, imagine you are drinking in a bar and are hammered, a car driven by another guy who is also drunk off his ass speeds into a red light right in front of you, T-Boning a car and killing all 4 occupants. The driver of this car flees his vehicle and tosses you the keys. You are too drunk to know what is going on and start walking home with them. Police arrest you a few blocks away, you being the drunk guy with the keys.

Of course you are going to be held even though you are innocent. The police dont know you are innocent yet, and you are a very good suspect. This is why most states have a 48 hr charging clock. Some have longer, but few as far as I know. Solving crime takes time. Fleeing the cops when you know you are a suspect does not.

Oddly, in this case, the police UNSOLVED a crime, despite an admission from defendant in 48 hours. That is crazy good police work! Imagine if a pedophile admitted to raping a child in a taped interview and police, on their own accord, went out and grabbed surveillance video from a hospital showing he was not at the rape location. Unheard of.

I understand the sentiment. When he was picked, he was largely marketed as something akin to "Americas Dad" or "Americas Grandpa" of "America's football coach". But every guy who actually has a dad, a grandpa, and played a sport thinks of him "not my dad/grandpa/coach".

Given that all of his children were conceived in some not-IVF but medical procedure it is a plausible thing to say about Tim Walz that he has never had sex with a woman. If JD Vance was in an actual locker room and wanted to win 90%+ of the votes of a football team he would have credibly accused Walz of that. And almost every guy in said locker room would have felt in in their gut that it is true.

Walz is, to use a now out of fashion insult, a fag. That is almost certainly what his high school classmates called him, its what the football players he assistant coached called him in the 90s/2000s. Culture really hasn't evolved a proper insult since the "banning" of "gay" and "fag" as insults for a male who lacks manliness. Perhaps "Walz" can become said new insult, because he does truly embody the essence of those insults from my youth.

Bicycle lanes are the lowest of the low hanging fruit for many cities. They are cheap, simple, ways to reduce traffic congestion, promote healthy and active living, and protect the lives of cyclists. It is so incredibly frustrating how much of an uphill battle it is to get them built. I think there's this enduring perception from people who exclusively drive that bike lanes are something for hobbyists rather than a way for people to get where they need to go. Every attempt to get new lanes built is met with a torrent of backlash.

Citation? Typically bike lanes in my city just end up cannibalizing real roadway and provide little, if any, protection to the few bikers who use them. "Building" bike lanes is, in my experience, a total misnomer, its just drawing extra lines. Its not like you can move the buildings 3 feet back on each side of the road.

I think RR has a skill with the pen that few others have, but he is also a fabulist and a weirdo and that color's my view of this book (and did at the time I first read it). RR, if you don't know, a bit before writing this book also penned a piece about taking his 14 year old son to see a SI photoshoot. When you are around that age you find him to be the coolest dad. When you realize he's probably committing several misdemeanors and are a dad, you realize he's being an irresponsible dad. And obviously not all he is saying makes sense at all.

So in the end is this account of Trump true? Perhaps portions of it are. Trump probably hit some decent shots. Did he hit a 310 yard shot? Probably not. It was probably 299. Still great, but not up to RR storytelling standards. So IDK what really happened on that golf course, but I do know nothing happened that RR thought was BAD happened, because RR the fabulist could contrive Trump glancing at the shirt of a woman wearing nothing but a wet white tee into sexual assault. So just take every 10 and make it a 7 and move on from there.

The great thing about such over the top rhetoric is I don't know what any of your ambiguous pronouns are referring to? Is it Dems or Reps being cucked? Who is fighting the brutal war?

In any case, the main problem is "humanitarian" aid to Palestine, which is just terrorist funding by another name, and since terrorism is cheap when your perps don't care about dying, it pays off at like 100k-1 compared to military aide for precision strike bombs.

In the area I grew up in the Catholic schools at still at 8k per head, and this is a state with heavy regulation of even those. If you had a good regulatory environment I suspect you could get very competent schooling at around the 2-3k per head number.

Without knowing specifics of a case, what the hell would DNA prove in a murder case? Did some guy shoot his own hand splattering the wall then shoot the victim?

This is why these sorts of appeals and objections are such BS. People just seize upon any possible avenue to delay an execution. Usually in such cases its not like there was a semen sample in the deceased vagina and he was convicted without testing done. Its obviously going to be some other thing.

Whomever they nominate, it'll either annoy their base, or it'll alienate the median voter.

Does that even matter though? Harris still cackled her way to 75 million votes. Given her complete lack of appeal, that appears to be a floor as to what their organizers can gin up through harvesting, bussing, etc. And its enough for the party to maintain 40+ seats in the Senate basically in perpetuity.

The Democratic machine is too good at generating votes to actually collapse. The voter's preferences aren't really relevant to that.

Lloyd Austin, December 2023. Whatever you think of him, that's pretty much what happened.

It really isn't though, and to the extent it is what happened, it is because of folks like Lloyd Austin who were focused on preserving the viability of Hamas tactics. In particular, they were much more concerned about the RESPONSE to putting rocket launchers in schools, than the rocket launchers in schools.

To me, 'equal rights for gay people' means that for a system of ethics to be valid, it must be invariant with regard to gender parity, i. e. the morality of an act or relationship is identical to that of an otherwise identical act or relationship, differing only in that the gender of one participant is reversed.

This seems a very odd and unique definition. The genders are not the same, so why would swapping them in any situation result in the same result?

I am still waiting for one more Tim Walz thing to drop. It probably wont be anything, but he has to be the least vetted major party candidate of my lifetime. He's just a walking mediocrity who has convinced himself via self delusion that everything hes ever done is slightly more impressive than it actually was, or something along those lines. So I expect one more really dumb thing about Walz to come out. Like that he actually quit the track team in high school, but insists he lettered.

Of course, IL in 1960 was a battle of voter fraud wherein the DNC machine in Cook outworked the RNC machine in southern IL.

Most states now acknowledge the existence of ancient (aka 60 year old) voter fraud machines that would routinely manufacture 100k or so votes (see IL in 1982, the sole one contemporaneously caught). But no one has any explanation as to why this magically stopped when procedures in those areas remain the same. Few of the grand jury recommendations from the 1982 case are currently in effect in Illinois, for example.

Almost all of those recommendations are fully opposed by a major American political party for reasons that seem obvious to the curious.

They polled an assortment of doctors working in Gaza

Oh. You find this a credible source of information? People who volunteer to be governed by terrorists?

When was there really a chance for Palestine to have a "viable state" (IMO a weasel word in context). They were self governing in Gaza for a decade and a half, and decided that the best thing to do with that is launch an incursion into Israel to kill a thousand or so civilians.

Pre-1948 the concept of a "Palestinian" didnt even exist. They were just Muslim Arabs that happened to be located in a specific territory, but culturally were indistinguishable from their neighboring states. Post 1948 they were maintained as non-citizens for political calculation in other states. Then we had war in 1967, a defensive war by Israel where they took land to make their borders more defensible (much like the French following WWI, in theory).

In the early 2000s Ehud Barak almost brokered a peace deal that gave Palestinians thrice what any rational actor bargaining from such a weak position could hope for. He was met with, in the end, an intransigent Yassar Arafat and an intifada. In the end Israel turned to Bibi and folks like him because it was obvious that the motto "from the river to the sea Palestine will be free" had an addendum to it: "of Jews". So either they will win out, or be genocided. These are the options until the Arab world reforms.

Just pointing out Rick Wilson is an anti-Trump Republican though, he is certainly not a Democrat

This sort of framing, while beneficial to the Rick Wilsons of the world, is likely untrue.

Agree, but that is probably also a subset of the issue I am trying to highlight. School is not fun for boys. Thus, only the high achieving boys, or those with a specific interest elect to continue with it. School for girls is like being in water for fish. They can just kind of mindlessly continue through the system with no real goal. So some major, any major, serves the purpose of them getting an organized sit and talk session.

Pretty sure abstinence only sex ed resulted in the highest rates of teenage pregnancy

We'd have to fisk both sides of the claim, and I'm tired, but doesn't this sound to you like a classic case of where black population clusters also correspond with conservative Christian clusters (aka southern states)?
