I do remember all those photos; I remember lots of democrats awful proud of Iraqi elections even if they didn't like Bush. The war was well-defended on 'liberal' grounds and maybe I'm just confusing liberal and leftist here but I recall plenty of definitely-not-Bush voters awfully supportive of the war.

Does orthodoxy really have such a strong norm towards ‘children must be PERFECT in liturgy or not go’? I ask because Byzantine Catholicism has, uh, thé opposite reputation.
You’ve posted before about the challenge of wrangling little people through Divine Liturgy(and I can sympathize), but Byzantine Catholic services are IME full of children being basically ignored until they start full on screaming. Maybe it’s a difference from thé ‘if you’re married you have to have babies and not stop’ mentality religious Catholics tend to have and orthodoxy is different- but it would surprise me.

Given your description, I'm guessing this is a semi-rural to rural area. Double check your utilities connections- if this is in Texas, there may be a difference between oncor(electrical grid monopoly) or a utility coop, depending on where you are. For a house that size I'm guessing 100 amp service and two air conditioners? Also, if water comes from a well- do you have a filter already budgeted for? And what's your plan for backup power in the event that a storm knocks out power to the pump(and btw- pumps are already expensive and you more or less get what you pay for. Get a long lasting, quality one.). You're close enough to the gulf that hurricanes are a realistic concern; do you have a plan for them?
Will you be having a conventional built house or a prefab(much cheaper)? Do you plan on a pier and beam(better foundation but you need pest mitigation strategies) or slab?
I highly recommend, given the climate- screen in one or both of the porches. This is near tropical America and you're going to want something to keep bugs out.

I did not find French 'easier' by knowing Latin and Spanish. I suppose they made it easier to learn each other, but French is pretty different from the other Romance languages grammatically and in pronunciation.

The average daily wage for unskilled labor in the US, even flyover, is higher than a good weekly salary in Mexico, even the DF or Noreste. I don't think you can stop notoriously risk averse unskilled laborers from trying to take advantage of that. You can probably stop them from sticking around though.

Illegals don't really have the amounts of property that make that worth it. The processing costs on possessing their cars probably exceed the sales price, because they drive beatermobiles, and they live in shitbox apartments in the ghetto that somebody else owns and will just rent out for below market rates(you ain't gettin' full market rent for that). Is ICE supposed to be making a killing off some Android phones with cracked screens and jeans with holes in them? Heavily used work boots? A half-smoked pack of cigarettes?
I don’t think you can blame this on the naivety of republicans because it was an elite stratum doing the invading.
