Might be called Taiwan or Japan too. Subtract out the East Asian influences and culture and you'd get what they have approximately, a high-trust society with relatively low violence and open drug abuse.

I don't think your viewpoint is anathema here, I broadly agree and probably more than a few others too.
To add a bit, I think deportation would probably cause a second civil war of unknown magnitude and destruction, probably enough to ensure the permanent decline of the West and the rise of China. Most people would prefer to avoid sparking a civil war as they would immediately need to pay the costs upfront, with potential benefits reserved for grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Do normal people in the US, or the West in general appear capable of enduring great destruction and social upheaval for a better future? The greatest generation...we are not.

Beaides children, I think many adults might also consider continental size = importance. Many African adults, possibly. In that sense its a self-confidence boosting plan, to distract from Africa's many other problems.
Nah, male, just one kid. Maybe more in the future, maybe not. But one kid or 10 kids, not willing to risk their lives for a 10% chance of extreme wealth. We have enough material wealth to be satisfied, and could tolerate a bit less.
AI will be coming to shake things up no matter my preference. But, I wouldn't deal drugs for a living just to be more wealthy, the expected payoff vs risks are not good either.
Usually men take more risks in general as the reproductive payoff is much greater. But there's a difference in risking my own life vs the life of all my family and friends, combined. Usually men want to protect the women and babies, not put their lives at risk.

An average person with children will not take a 10% risk of death for themselves and their family if they are aware of these odds, even if it will make them wealthy. Even drug dealers and mafia will not necessarily murder the families of their business rivals if the families are uninvolved with the business.

I figure when you have guild-like organizations advocating for the financial benefit of its members, any challenge to labor monopolies from rival organizations or individuals is always met with the greatest resistance possible. Allowing engineering credentials to be used in place of architectural credentials is a long term threat.

Add barring ownership by dual citizens directly or indirectly of critical industries like semiconductors and military manufacturing, at a minimum. Same if their spouses or children are dual citizens. Compared to a few votes which wouldn't make a difference in many elections.

So the argument is that he is actually being very frugal with hiring trailer prostitutes considering his upbringing and lifestyle, compounded with the financial stress of divorce. Sounds reasonable. Doesn't even seem to hurt him in the negotiations for asset division, unlike a secret sugar baby girlfriend.
It's the power difference which is appealing, the money is unimportant. That D1 has a low chance of making it big in sports, or may otherwise use a college degree to earn a decent living in a non-athletic career even if she temporarily sells her body. The D1 is potentially upwardly mobile.
The woman in the trailer park is probably destitute, with little future prospects other than marrying well if she can avoid the drugs. The exploitation is what makes it erotic for him. There is likely no sexual degradation she will refuse, unlike the fit D1 who can be choosy with her wealthier clients.
Not to say that the D1 wouldn't do some degrading stuff for the right price. But it wouldn't be real degradation done in desperation, it would be play-acted at best.
What about Australia and Canada? They had no history of slavery, were they leaning communist in the same timeframe? I genuinely don't know, just asking for some points of reference in anglo societies.
