Tell him that he is, in fact, much more capable and interested in software engineering rather than hardware. Apply to college accordingly, with a fallback in something easy in case he doesn't make the cut into the competitive majors.
That what matters in college is not the base coursework, but everything else. That is not to say the coursework should be neglected, but the opposite. Knock it out of the way first thing in the afternoon - it's easy - and look for opportunities otherwise.
Be more open to social drinking. Like it or not, you're awkward with new people except in very specific contexts. A drink will help, and if you think you don't need other people to have fun now, consider that later, you will.
Be less afraid to impose, particularly in dating. You ostracise yourself 100% of the times you keep your mouth shut.

I do believe women can be interesting as people to men. It's just that, without sexual attraction in play, they have to compete with the other men on that front.
Maybe women find it naturally harder because they aren't interested in the same things as men to connect with them platonically as well as their male friends. Maybe most women never learn to be interesting due to having sexual attraction on their side. When I match with a woman on a dating app and see an empty bio or something that barely provides any hooks for a conversation, I am certainly overcome with an intense wave of apathy, no matter how hot she is.

I think there's a lot of work you're just leaving on the table on the part of both boys and girls and assuming they won't do it and just be "boys be boys and girls be girls". 16 is old enough for boys to try and put in more effort into connecting with the girl on a personal level (and getting good at sex), and for girls to be a bit more forgiving about initial unimpressiveness (while also learning that the more physically impressive the boy is, the less incentive there is for him to stick with her and learn her preferences).
You've provided examples of destructive rather than constructive "brutal honesty", but it doesn't have to be.
This is not my observation. My observation is that progressives deny that the decrease in intelligence is intractable, and claim that it can be fixed for the next generation, if not the current, by removing the environmental racism.
In general, most of the people in the progressive bubbles I'm at do not act as if they get regular """NPC updates""", as people love to paint it here.

Except in this case, the guy in charge of the new government first shelled the fuck out of the previous government, including many cities, and his campaign is "your party isn't legitimate, your country isn't real and we will literally dismantle all of that". Not really the kind of behavior that promises benevolent governing.

My impression, from living in Russia, was that Russia cemented the US and "the West" as a 99% explicit enemy a decade, if not more, ago. A pole of power that has opposite interests and values, and will never be trusted.
Not merely objecting to the US's role of the world police and reserving the right to police itself, however, Russia decided that it wants a slice of the world police pie. I wouldn't expect the US to like it any more than Russia likes what the US has been doing.

Few things can be more salient than shelling, and for every attempt to appeal to the Ukrainian's male pride there are 10 channels where he's called a pig and dehumanized by Russians.
Now, men who aren't conscripted yet are probably more fertile soil for such propaganda, but not by much. Ukrainian cities are getting hit as well, not just the frontline.
I think the attempts to demoralize potential Russian mobilized by telling them how their wife hopes to receive the KIAbuxx soon are more powerful.
Speaking for myself and my predicted effect of frontline life on morale - I currently want nothing but the highest humiliation upon Putin and his supporters, even at a cost to the country in general, but if I were packed to the frontline, I expect I'd hate the Khokhols more soon enough.

Would it? Do you think Ukrainian soldiers aren't aware that the women left behind aren't exactly bound to nunneries? It would be propaganda, sure. In fact there is at least one well-directed propaganda video made by Russia where an AFU soldier dies in the field in parallel with a corrupt upper-class Ukrainian fucking some woman. But nuclear would have to be a bit more illuminating than that, I think.
Besides, the Russians that are shelling them are close and real, while some abstract Ukrainian sluts are far away and hypothetical.

Consider: by raising your kids Amish you are vastly decreasing their risk of depression, suicide, drug use, and violence.
This is like the advice to not own guns because you'd be decreasing the odds of encountering gun violence. The effect of following such advice is vastly decreased if you're already the kind of person who would follow such advice.
Besides, I can also reduce all risks my children would face to 0 by not having them. This is an exaggeration, but in my (admittedly very distanced) view Amish exist more so than live. Even the context they're mostly discussed in betrays that - that their largest/only advantage is their demographics, not their lifestyle but its robustness. I'm reminded of the "roaches will survive a nuclear war" factoid - sure, but that doesn't endear me to be a roach. They may have their simple joys but they're way too simple for me.

I haven't gotten the impression that immigration is restricted for overseas people in Russia all that much. Anti-immigration talk focuses on Middle Asia - cheap labor, Muslim, etc.
There are barriers that would deter a 1st world immigrant. You have to learn the language (less important for Middle Asian immigrants who aren't taking high-level jobs and have many of their own countrymen at the jobs they do take), and you'll have to go through conscription if you're a male 30 (27 until recently) and under. Again, conscription is likely less undesirable for someone already used to a hard life, if not desirable (being fed, clothed, roofed and given an express course in conversational Russian).

While filtering out "inadequate" suitors on the dating app (and I can bet there are many) might be easier than changing your lifestyle to adequately date, I don't believe it's no effort. Too many posters give off this "just get a good partner sis" message when they describe women's dating prospects, whereas "just clean up and be confident bro" doesn't work quite as well.

A relatively tiny enclave of Amish can survive and keep their ways of living under the protection of a country like USA. Perhaps a relatively tiny country like the Switzerland or Monaco could survive being Amish while living under the protection of modern EU (and USA). Can anyone bigger do it and not become thirdworldized? Doubt.

HBD doesn't, in fact, explain why high IQ black people do worse than high/mid IQ white people. To my knowledge most HBD theory proposes that IQ is fully general, and higher average IQ should correlate with more pro-social, civilized behaviour in general - I've seen no theory for a separate "criminality gene" being fleshed out.
"Identifying with a criminal culture", on the other hand, does explain rather well why high-IQ black people are disproportionately likely to go to prison, for me at least. (I know that criminal culture exists. I know that if you act according to criminal culture, you're more likely to go to prison than if you acted according to prosocial culture, IQ being the same. I do not, however, know if there is a criminality gene orthogonal to IQ.) This is without going into the anti-black racism theory.
