The difference between what I know of how USA treats their soldiers and how Russia treats theirs is big enough that I wouldn't use the words "throw away" for both of them. This is without even going into the fact that Russia conscripts men against their will. US military recruiters might target the dumb and the hopeless, they might lie and embellish, but it's a choice.

Could justify it if "defending" meant "defending" as it did during WWII, but this? Hardly different from USA's "national interests securing" and "projecting influence". The only major difference is that USA's got oceans on both sides and Russia's only got one.

I'm not in position to argue in favour of America's national idea. All I can say is that if you're looking for a country that won't give up on you, Russia would not be in my top list of suggestions. It is throwing men away to secure a meager buffer zone that I can't imagine actually being vital as we speak. I suppose you could achieve the authenticity of "fighting for your country" if you specifically immigrated to the newly occupied territories that are being fought for.

To add context, on a cursory skim of that list (without looking the actual texts and videos up, which are likely to be blocked/deleted anyway), it appears to mostly consist of, in rought order of prevalence:

  • white, pro-Russian/Slavic nationalism (including antisemitic remarks)
  • derision of Russia as a state, including its current actions
  • white, anti-Slavic nationalism (including antisemitic remarks)
  • pro-Ukrainian content (in Ukrainian)
  • content favoring non-Slavic non-Middle East Russian ethnicities (Tatars etc)
  • mixed generic anti-social content (school shootings, thug violence, organized crime culture, etc)
  • Islamic content presumably considered extreme (including antisemitic remarks)
  • Orthodox content presumably considered extreme

And none with Americans? Or is it that your rapport with Americans left you with the impression that they can't be your tribe?

From where I'm standing, one may convince themselves to think they're "fighting for the Russian tribe". They may even die happy. However, this worldview won't be aligned with reality.

If you never found your tribe and home in USA, what makes you think Russia would be any different? I can tell you from experience there isn't any more magical sovl in Russian people than the Westerners. Not obvious, at least.

Doubt that many parents would want their kid to be one of the 5-10 mowed down before the shooter runs out of ammo, though.

80? We got a centennarian on here?

Come on, we're trying to make a burger here, not get deleted by Uriel.

No such thing "cold", only "need more clothing".

How about "White people should breed more, for they certainly have the capacity to support more children. If they want. And if they don't care enough to proliferate, how can I?"?

Once we said "switched places" it is up to argument how much of "being rich" we actually switch. A rich child of rich parents is not the same as a poor man who won 100 million in lottery.

I'm pretty sure most whites aren't Effective Altruists either.

Do you think rich Nigeria wouldn't be doing a lot for african US?

I should have made it more clear that this is how I assume OP's sister thinks.

What is this persistent fixation on trying to establish a link between progressivism and Christianity? I am progressive precisely because I am not Christian, I don't think there's any "next life" where all virtue and sin is accounted for to compensate for the unjustness of the earthly realm. You and I see sin being rewarded and virtue being punished every day, you may pick any definition of "sin" and "virtue" that aren't the circular "good behaviour is when good outcome" type.

Not to mention the thousands buglike mobile game companies who do it for the majority of the market share.

If this player earned this rank in public games, it makes sense that his strategies are anti-social. There isn't any trust in public games. The best you can do to unite the team is to be the example of good play.

Such players (aka "tryhards") are terrible company during casual play, and sadly there are a lot of people who adopt this behaviour before they're actually good enough to carry their weight independently. A commonly said wisdom is "sticking together with a bad plan is better than going separately with no plan".

Who forced you to stay in the shitty tax-heavy West where you were losing money compared to your homeland?

I'm sure she believes she does have reason and is using it to the correct ends that passion gives her insight into. As well as all notable heroes of history who had something they believed in and something they were passionate about that drove them. Meanwhile OP doesn't have any goal besides idly amusing himself with rhetoric and all of his logic will never lead him to the truth, only to "owning the libs".

I don't. Perhaps that is because I don't go to ceremonies designed to cause such a feeling.

There are anecdotes of people who thought they were reasonable and strong-priored enough to resist cult indoctrination going to cult indoctrination sessions and buying them hook, line and sinker.

Are you marking all that as "not interested"?

Hamas leaders don't seem to lead from the frontline.

That's not what I'm asking about.

What? I thought it was a simple question. If Canada decided it wanted the state Maine or Michigan for itself, would you be asking "WTF are Americans fighting for?"?

Why would the Americans resist the Canadians if the situation was reversed?
