i've heard claude is good at coding but i don't understand how people are using it

what programs are people using to feed context to claude?

Maxine Waters and Patrick McHenry will be in charge of the house committee for FTX.

He's going to get away with all of it. Fuuuuck dude. This is hard to stomach.

they have the old soviet stockpiles that means even as the average equipment regresses decades, they can feed the war machine, whereas the European and even American stockpiles are getting hazardously low.

Russia will never outproduce the West.

The dossier on Zoosadists led to at least a couple convictions. A lot of original research from the individual threads trickled down into mainstream coverage. It was a good place to get the news before it was reported on. Even "enemies" of KF would use the site to spread awareness on scam artists and actual serial abusers. The autistic commitment to 'not being factually wrong' and OSINT principles put them above most of the web in trustworthiness, at least when it comes to investigating very evil people† on the internet.

You were probably on the "wrong part" of the site. A&H (the "news" board) is basically /pol/ and was cloistered for being a shithole full of angry 2020 wignat users. IMO Null should have shut down A&H years ago because it didn't contribute much to the main site. There was a clear divide in moderation between the off topic boards and the on-topic boards. The userbase is a lot more diverse than it seems.

† evil is subjective but trust me, these were some bad guys.

I don't think other minorities see black people the way you claim. From my experience they don't seem to mind black pandering because "they clearly have bigger problems" and they don't see themselves as particularily disadvantaged. There is nothing American black people have that would elicit feelings of jealosy or unfairness from non-black minorities. Asians and Hispanics might have an undersized representation in media, but there's plenty of media coming from their origin countries that they can consume so it's not that big of a deal.

The race most critical of black Americans I've encountered were Africans from Africa.

This is a nature reserve for neurodivergent folx who can’t suppress their urge to notice patterns Reddit doesn’t want them to talk about. Please be kind and do not tap the glass. 🥺

Read his and caroline's twitter history. They talk just like themotte posters. HBD, IQ maximization, nootropics, alternative lifestyles, AI risk, game theory, all the trendy topics.

They're fucking nerds dude.

Reading Scott's post about feeling anxious and betrayed made me think back to Zero HP Lovecraft's tweet about the quokka, the Australian mammal. I don't have much else to say besides how frustrating it is to see a full grown adult act so naively. Don't have much charity left for someone so easily manipulated.

People who write a lot on the internet for strangers have way too much time on their hands. I used to write longer comments and even some that made it into the contributions thread but now I don't feel like I have to do that anymore.

People smarter than us hang out with their friends and might pop in once in a while to write a comment about a topic that personally interests them. Successful people should confide with those that they trust and those that are useful to them, not strangers who happen to be on the same intellectual level.

To which tribe shall the gift of AI fall?

The Chinese will do what Ameridon't. Overpaid AI ethicists scolding can't stop this. I don't mean the government, but just lots of independent actors outside the reach of IP law are going to find a way to turn a profit from new technology.

Josh could just be put in jail!

But then he would have committed a crime. That's my point. There's nothing in the US Law that says you can't use the internet to laugh at the things weird people do.

No group is immune to e-girl bullshit.

(except explicitly gay groups)

Downvotes don't matter in the slightest here. They don't even reduce visibility. Caring too much about score is more of a problem than people just arbitrarily downvoting stuff and not following "reddiquette" (which has been a joke since the very start).

The main person behind the FTX situation is Sam Bankman Fried, a very influential donor and prominent figure within the Effective Altruism movement. His exchange blew open due to his financial crimes and the movement he is tied to is taking heat. He allocated millions into Effective Altruism while embezzling from his exchange. What is currently happening is a Bernie Madoff level collapse. A company that had ads with Larry Davis on the Super Bowl this year is imploding overnight and all it's customers are turbo fucked.

Intent is too ambiguous. Simply make attempting to stab people a crime and harshly prosecute people stabbers so the police don't need to use their mind reading powers to pre-emptively jail people who could potentially commit a crime.

Also, a serrated knife is a bad weapon to use on a person.

...pretty much every example of AI generated text and images I've encountered has struck me as painfully obvious.

Am I really an outlier in my ability to notice that randomly strung together words, even if they are grammatically correct, aren't conveying any meaning?

Yes. You are an outlier. A majority of people are consistently failing the reverse turing test for text and images. Literally everyone will at least have some of their time wasted reading the first couple sentences of AI generated text before realizing something is off. Nobody is immune to info-chaff.

Think about, try to feel, how much pain they're experiencing, how scared they are, how scared and sad their family is, etc.

...why tho

Getting emotional over people I don't know is irrational and makes you easy to manipulate. Not opening my wallet for a charity just because they will ostensibly reduce suffering somewhere I have never seen that I will never go to. People should look out for the ones they have direct responsibility for first. How about helping a friend out first? Everyone has a friend that's struggling these days.

One can improve the lives of those around them with great precision and far greater cost efficiency than unknown strangers.

Real Effective Altruism is giving a beer to the bum in front of Walmart. I don't expect him to get any better and he will almost certainly die in a ditch in ten years, but at least I know my money is being converted directly into utility (beer == smiles) and not wasted on high overhead charity making political or economic changes with uncertain second order consequences.

Anyway, I don't think we're looking at anything more or less than a polycule of stim-abusing rationalists with a gambling problem, good PR, and access to several billion dollars with which to gamble.

There's a LOT more to it than that. His extensive anti DeFi lobbying and his donation history (donating money he didn't have) point to a much deeper rabbit hole than a Bernie Madoff situation. Between this and the possibly related murder of Nikolai Mushegian, it's a very strange time to be in the DeFi sphere. This is like our Epstein.

I know this sounds like a "just trust me bro" post but there isn't a lot written about it that's up to date that I can reference and it's unlikely the media will ever dig deeper.

People actually cashing in three years worth of frequent flyer miles all at once is gonna be really painful for the airlines that used them to borrow money against themselves during Covid.

This reminds me of that canadian show with the bald kid named Caillou that literally ruined a generation of children by teaching them how to whine as annoyingly as possible to get their way. Actual info-hazard if I've ever seen one.

And I'll be honest, I've had a crush on Aella for ages; she's a very attractive nerdy woman, and as a sexually confident and charismatic female Rationalist, she is a very horny unicorn among horses. But I've got to say, learning that specific factoid about her life had a similar effect on my idle long-distance lust as an F150's tires do on a small rodent

OP describes himself as one in his post.

This thread should not be here in the first place. It is gossip about a twitter persons nasty personal hygiene habits. It is 100% parasocial simping drama which is why a similar thread already exists in small questions.

Guy should not be banned for calling a spade a spade.

No, but it is a funny word that evokes an image of contempt from the people who feed it to you, like a pig farmer or a school lunch lady.

You can get away with short posts here as long as you state your point clearly. Keeping things laconic takes a lot of effort and skill in language but it's hard to tell the difference at a glance between a nessessarily short post and a lazy shitpost.

On the other hand, you have spam and spam-like products. It's probably sat in that can for months. It's probably a mix of all sorts of meats and meat-things, along with a bunch of chemicals that aren't too good for your body.

Hormel's Spam™ is perfectly fine meat made from pork rump and shoulder, salt, potato starch (to prevent the infamous gelatin at the top of the can), sugar and sodium nitrate. It really doesn't deserve the reputation it gets.

Of all the readily accessible preserved meats, Spam is probably the least processed option.
