ZImage Turbo came out and it's quite impressive. Like every model it's sort of retarded about weapons - can't even draw a rifle round properly it seems but when I tried it out it can handle quite complex prompts without fucking it up, and all of that fits onto a single 4070.

It's somewhat slower than stable diffusion but understands sentences, though not that well. But, it can actually do image composition using words although it seems to be confused when you start to describe left-right directions inside the image itself (e.g. if you tell it to display a man from his left or his right side it seems to be a toss up. If you say he's facing left or facing right it's better.).

Anyway, open source and all that, a mere 12 gb of download for the FP8., worth checking out.

Nano Banana Pro is practically flawless about generating realistic firearms. If it's an obscure design, all it needs is a reference. I can't be bothered using the old fashioned kind of image generator/Diffusion models, it's just too smart and convenient, and not even that strongly censored.

Nano Banana Pro is paid, though, and if it's anything like ImageGen, insultingly censored too.

Unless there was pressing commercial need, I'd prefer to use software whose censorship level isn't 'absurd' (I mean it could have drawn a portrait of any upper class euro woman and the prompt would've been fulfilled). In comparison, ZImage Turbo (even the app) just went ahead.

Uh, it worked for me? Gemini initially made a new poem, then I told it I wanted an image, and I got it.

They aren't deterministic. Also I got this a week back.

Why are you called The Motte?

A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently, it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey", originally identified by philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."

On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
