Wellness Wednesday for September 9, 2026

The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:

  • Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.

  • Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.

  • Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.

  • Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

I don't know why but this bulk has been unexpectedly difficult. Eating this much has been wrecking my sleep. Every single night, I go to bed feeling full and bloated. I can feel the contents of my stomach and it's uncomfortable to lay down on my back. I end up just laying there uncomfortable as fuck, not being able to fall asleep. I've tried eating my last meal at 6pm, but still, 6 hours later, I was bloated. I'm now trying to frontload at least 60% of my daily carbs consumption to the start of the day. It's difficult because if I overdo it, I end up being bloated at the gym and that's not great either. At least I'm finally gaining weight now and I'm seeing progress at the gym. Hopefully I can keep this up for at least a few more months.

It's funny to read something like this (I have the same problem if I'm trying to eat big) when you can look around and see the average American has apparently no problem eating 3k+ calories per day and feeling full, if not bloated, most of the time. If I do a solid 3 meals per day, I'm still full from breakfast when I'm trying to eat lunch, and still full from lunch when trying to eat dinner. It's uncomfortable at best, but somehow all these people around me have discovered a way to power through...

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking too. I eat foods that are very voluminous, and average American probably gets large chunk of those calories from processed foods loaded with fats. One time I had some dubai chocolate mousse cake cup and that thing was third of my palm in size and was 500 calories, loaded with sugar and fats. My usual dinner carb of choice is 700gr of potatoes and that is also 500 calories.
