You (least) favorite thot has launched a new site where you rate people's photographs, and it determines who you are attracted to. I rated enough pictures to get a detailed profile and it's not surprising at all. What was surprising is how many women it showed me were fat, trans and/or had septum piercings. And that were, I assume, their most flattering pictures.

What kind of person willingly submits their photos to a site like this? Hot women already get way too much attention on social media, they don't need a site like this to tell them how hot they are. Knowing Aella, I wonder if she paid women to put their photo up there.

Note that she has used AI-generated images in the past, so some of the images here may be AI-generated as well.

    I got a bunch of photos, some AI and some real (including a few of myself and friends across different ages)

  • Men's Hotness Scale

    I collected ∽260 images of men’s faces, most of them AI generated. I tried to mostly get images of men who looked like they could be 25-40yo, but with a few outside of this. I collected the AI images from both midjourney (which looked more professional/stylized), and also ‘thisfacedoesnotexist’, which looks more like your uncle’s profile photo on facebook. I also included a few submitted by male friends who wanted to know how hot they were.

  • Women's Hotness Scale

    I collected ∽240 images of women’s faces, most of them AI generated. I just default scraped a bunch of them, with the only stipulation being that they had to look reasonably above 18, and had to be plausibly fertile (with only a few exceptions).

    Some of the non-AI generated ones I took from a public directory of images; a few were submitted by some of my female friends.

Some of the images are obviously AI generated, particularly since AI has a problem with generating essentially the same person over and over again.

I don't think comparing people's looks accurately shows who you're drawn to, especially with these pictures which are mostly unflattering and/or edited (why don't people smile in their selfies? Even I learned to do that).

Around the turn of the millennium there was an excel sheet-like thing doing the rounds which had female celebrities and you did a series of "A or B?" comparisons. I recall it worked rather better than that site.

It can be surprisingly hard to force a smile when 1) you can't see yourself and 2) you need to look towards a specific unnatural spot.

That's interesting, are we more likely to smile if we can see ourselves? I think in my case the smile I can summon that I think looks smiley is not at all my natural smile, though it may seem to be for the untutored (fortunate) who don't know me well. I've even had people remark at photos I thought were good: "I hate your fake smile."

My real smile--my genuine one--I think makes me look like an idiot.

This needs a "not interested in either" So many of these I feel forced to chose between two horrible options.

I think that's kinda the point. There's no alpha in showing you obvious choices (other than to keep you engaged or to calibrate new images), I think it often deliberately tries to pick two photos that have a similar preference rate, but differ along a different axis, like age or BMI or basedness. So sometimes you get one of these "would you rather have sex with a dog that is alive or dead" choices in picture format.

I'm enjoying the political face one, I have like an 86% success rate with guessing the more leftist woman by picture. Sometimes its hard to determine which one is the MOST leftist though.

The sheer tide of transgenders seems like it would nullify any serious findings from this. I automatically picked the non-trans every time, except in the numerous occasions they were both trans

I looked into the settings and there's now a switch to filter them out.

The important stats are behind a registration wall. Looks like you can only create an account using Google (lol), or whatever "Glosso" is, and you can "log in with an account created with a password," but they won't let you create those types of accounts anymore.

Your results mirror what I expect mine would be. I got as far as the register wall and clicked out. The very first two faces said "Which woman do you prefer"? And one of them was 100% a dude, looked like a teenaged boy actually. Weird.

Edit: I did not choose the boy.

What is this place?

This website is a place for people who want to move past shady thinking and test their ideas in a court of people who don't all share the same biases. Our goal is to optimize for light, not heat; this is a group effort, and all commentators are asked to do their part.

Why are you called The Motte?

A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently, it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey", originally identified by philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."

On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
