Midterms Megathread

Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.

The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

Trump is about to find out in politics when you fuck up as bad as he did everyone turns on you. I don’t think he understands how fucked he is and how Republicans are about to have their knives out.

When you come at the king, you best not miss.

What is this supposed to mean in this context? Dozens, hundreds have come at Trump, some with actual guns, and missed. And?

It's a quote from The Wire tv series, about the inevitable retailation from failing to eliminate a powerful person.

Trump is usually not forgiving of disloyalty, he won't hesitate to politically eliminate traitors. Trying to politically eliminate or impeach Trump would require secrecy and unity, and Republicans would need to stake their political future on it.

Personally, I don't think that any Republicans will be emboldened enough to turn on Trump because of how he has handled dissent in the past. Safer to focus on personal political survival and then repudiate Trump in 2028 when his term is over.

They missed, and they shouldn't have?
