Midterms Megathread

Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.

The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

One point - with real Dan Sullivan a nose ahead of Peltola (and likely to win on transfers even if he is a nose behind when the first count is complete because the also-rans are another Republican and fake Dan Sullivan), it looks like voter irritation at the fake Dan Sullivan affair allowed the Republicans to hold on in a state Peltola should have won comfortably given the national swing.

Was fake Dan Sullivan the second biggest self-own of this election cycle (after Iran)?

Honestly, probably not. Republicans have plenty more idiotic gaffes to go round, like Bo French's public comments, and Elon's general choices. Might be third or fourth ig, but there's a lot of self-owning going round. I wouldn't be surprised if Elon sees legislative attacks directed at his control over SpaceX in 2030 if he doesn't manage to turn things around.
