Were it indeed inevitable for COVID to appear, it’s for reasons such as this that I believe it’d have been preferable for it to appear in some smaller, less significant and less influential country somewhere else in Southeast Asia. The country would have been roundly condemned by the UN for not enforcing proper research regulations, mishandling the crisis, not providing sufficient information etc., maybe with sanctions applied etc., it’d not be taboo to discuss what really happened, and everyone’d have long moved on.

The American bourgeois has a lower rate of divorce and a significantly lower rate of bastardy than the working-class.
But the reason isn’t that they prioritize religious and family values above all else, or that they see the role of a family man as an end unto itself. It’s that their bourgeois social circle expects them to form stable marriages with children with members of the same social circle or a similar one that partially overlaps it, because it’s one important thing that confers social status and thus contributes to self-actualization eventually. On the other hand, failing to achieve this is a sign of high time preference, which they see as a personal shortcoming.

As far as I’m concerned, I’m willing to concede that in certain narrow social circumstances it’s advisable to move to a small Illinois town if you find work at the local nail factory. But these are indeed narrow.

As an interesting side note, adultery was and is still an offense in the United States Military. They don't give you 10 lashes or throw you in the brig, but it fucks up your career. That's interesting to me.
Does this always apply when the adulterer is in service in the US armed forces, or only when the spouse is as well?
You can't kill your wife or girlfriend because she cheated on you.
I'd add that, in certain circumstances and in certain jurisdictions, it was technically not penalized until the '70s or so.

True. I can also think of other factors. As far as I know, it has traditionally been normal for elite Western European families to send their sons off to expensive private boys’ boarding schools, where many of them got groomed by older pederasts in positions of authority and subsequently became pederasts themselves. In general, one trait that sets elites apart from the plebs is that they’re relatively isolated in their youths from normal rites of hetero sex. Also, I suspect there’s a strong correlation between the inherent traits that make one an ambitious, unscrupulous member of the elite and the usual traits of pedophiles, which means that kid touchers will always be overrepresented among the elite.
