For the fire fighter friend of mine with random joint pain it was heavy metal accumulation from inhaling a fuck tone of mercury at some point. Went away after a couple months of chelation therapy. (not the woowoo hack type; the real shit at a real hospital.)
Different friend had some sort of allergy to a protein supplement that caused joint inflammation; went away when he stopped supplementing.
Family member with congenital spine deformities she has held off for 70 years by doing hard-core Yoga (vinyasa and ashtanga in the style of a 100 year old dude lookin like he's made of beef jerky who lives in the woods and practices on a rock).
If you are desperate to rule shit out and you got fat stacks, you could try a comprehensive allergy panel. Don't do the online ones, they are garbage that just measure inflammation response which triggers on fucking anything. There are intelligent people everywhere at all times on all sides; Eg, I would bet dollars to donuts that the smartest presidents were Jefferson, FDR, and Adams, and they are all wildly different in terms of political philosophy.

Modern Christian music as a genera is (ironically) 100% soulless garbage retreads of pop but with all the nono words and impure thoughts stripped out.
There is really good Christian music (Johnny Cash's The Man Comes Around for example); but it isn't categorized as Christian.
That said, there us about 1200 years of really excellent liturgical music to be had if you like choral or classical or bluegrass stylings.

There are no good utilitarian argument (IMO) against SOME wealth redistribution. History, science, and economics all support it; at least until basic needs are filled and everyone reaches a consumption equilibrium/ inequality falls bellow the level that historically causes social unrest.
People like me who want way more than some have a tough row to hoe, given how it's gone in this past BUT THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT! This time we'll keep the market, come on, it'll be fun!

Yes, but nowadays we've moved further along the Nietzschean path and there are new angles to attack religion from kinda percolating out there in gen z and gen alpha; mainly that people who claim to believe it don't actually believe it, because they don't act like they believe it.
Think about all these Johnny come lately statue profile pic dudes shopping which trad version of religion to choose; and realize that is how young people are going to experience popular religion; jut like we experienced religion like a kubrik film of incredibly venal mega churches and 9/11 and such.
We are in the Reaction phase right now; soon we will be in the counter-reaction phase.

That's why I qualified the statement so hard; but it is mainly a joke.
I'd argue circuit diagram is the bottom; but the graph looks more like a tree than a pyramid: Everything narrows down before spreading back out. Especial since all architectures share so much commonality. x86 and ARM have different assembly languages; but an ALU is an ALU and a register is a register.
Although I guess computers existed before ALUs, so I have just found another rabbit hole to fling myself down lol.
More seriously: IMO the important thing for people to remember if they want to write really good in any language is that silicone exists and all your shit is going through these little micro components on a chip somewhere, while also remembering that unless you are willing to put in a couple dozen extra hours; the compiler is better than you are.

If you are still interested: I use the word surfaces here to mean interface between the world model of a given system and the sense data it is receiving; which is kinda specific and maybe only means anything to me.
It is a hard problem to create a system that can handle a sudden change in surfaces in this sense without resorting to a million zillion special cases, which is what we do now.

I will say that there is such a thing as a 'good teacher', it's just that it is determined per student and not per teacher.
For me, an autistic type 1 nerd that hates sitting still for more than 15 min, I need a teacher that goes lighting fast and makes as many jokes per minute as possible, then spends the back 3/4's of the class doing examples and taking questions so the loose information settles into the correct pattern. I actually REALLY benefited from zoom classes when I did my emergency covid degree; cause if the lecture was too slow I could play video games and keep my brain in the peak power zone RPMs wise, instead of falling asleep/into a fugue.
Someone else who takes careful notes and thinks things through might want very slow, thorough lecture to construct the pattern in their brain and then just moves to the next one.
A third person might not benefit from lecture at all; they need to read and reread the text until their brain synthesizes a world model out of it.
It's the full flower of human individuality, what a fucking pain!

That's why I'm strongly in favor of almost all forms of education other than home schooling: Where else are you gonna get your norms? If your dad comes home and whips you every day, where else are you gonna catch a break, or get a meal?
My analogy was more on the fact that the fictional school in question clearly spends +-a zillion per student.

Apropos of the dudes talking about climate change last thread: It went from 76 to a cool one hundo plus from one day to the next where I am, meaning I was out at five in the fucking morning building all my nightshades a god damn shanty town of palm fronds and tarps and shade cloth so all the flowers don't cook off.
This has always happened from time to tome, but now it's happening all the god damn time and is annoying as fuck. It's way worse with cold snaps, but that isn't as much of a problem in socal.

My own deeply unhelpful yet deeply held belief is that nobody can teach anybody anything; you simply place people in various combinations of prison/laborcamp/cult/skinnerbox and alternately whip them/ give them treats until their brain falls into the correctly shaped hole and they learn something almost by accident.
's why I find the various flavors of Xavier's school for the gifted deeply unconvincing also. You mean to say your product works when every rule is followed by committed users who were probably going to succeed regardless? You don't say.

In short from someone who barely knows shit about fuckall bellow the assembly layer: computer languages are some level n of abstraction (eg, int x = 1; translates to mov r(n) #1 in ARM assembly; which is iteself an abstraction to some binary) away from machine code which is itself an abstraction of some sort of voltage difference (or some other difference in other media ) that actually physically exists in the logic gates and what have you in your pixie box.
So a given bit of code running on a given piece of hardware could actually be written out as a circuit diagram, because that's what it is.
Unless this is wrong because fuck learning about volts and shit. It's all just magic to me once you get smaller than .5mm.
Oh, Well, in that case everything makes sense.
