This does sound like most progressives to me. It also sounds like most everyone else to me. Do you think progressives are unique in this?
Uniquely blatant. Most people do that to some degree or other, but most people also feel some discomfort when they do it. There's an unease, a vague awareness that they're doing something wrong, that they're actually losing. To the extent that I think I'm pretty good about that sort of thing, it's because that feeling of unease hits hard, and makes me feel nervous and paranoid, like I've forgotten a project due tomorrow. I suspect something similar affects many of the people who end up on The Motte.
A lot of progressives/leftists seem to just not give a fuck. I think it's partially downstream from the Primacy of Consciousness that fills so much leftist/progressive epistemology. What is reality anyway, man? Reality is in the eye of the beholder, it's all in your head and words anyway, so why not reject your words and assert my own? The more charitable angle is a kind of faith in institutions. Sure, I might not have an answer to your facts, but some professor somewhere does, for sure, and they'll prove me right.

Also, didn't the old stuff end up rotting after a few years? You don't need to build athletic shoes to last forever when they're going to be worn out in 6 months or a year. But you can't keep the interest of a collector community when the collections literally falls to pieces in half a decade.

Based on September polling. Which, last cycle in some of those important states, undershot Republican performance by 6-12%.
But who knows. Maybe this will finally be the election where the polling was accurate and not a targeted psyop to demoralize GOP voters understandably and accidentally mistaken all the time in the exact same direction.

AIUI, she went to the police 2-3 weeks later. In between, she purportedly texted with some of the guys involved, planning the next threesome and saying that the people slut-shaming her were just jealous, that this was just what modern liberated women were like and it was going to become more normalized.
Then the frat president (I think the same guy who tried to shut down the events the night in question) told her she wasn't allowed to come to the Halloween party and then she went to the police to claim rape.

Sex pests: they have weird sexuality but seem to respect consent and don’t seem to bother people outside broadcasting themselves, so I don’t see how they’d be “pests”
Being very charitable, this may be a "suffering from success" situation. Those circles seem to take sex pest issues very seriously. Alternatively phrased, they seem frequently riven with bloodbath infighting over sex pest scandals. It is possible that, like the Boy Scouts, their sincere and well above average efforts to tackle the Sex Pest Problem means the issue appears vastly more salient than among other comparable subcultures.
Being very charitable, of course. Being more realistic, autistic sex-positive dorks are going to attract sociopaths like flies to shit.

Yeah, people know it's a joke. It's generally seen as an incredibly poor taste joke though or at the very least one that fails to read the room.
It's particularly dumb because there's plausible reason to think Vance at least had read Scott back in the day. I feel like 2014 Scott would have noticed the opportunity, and taken advantage of the audience to make a reasoned, decently-targeted pitch. But modern Scott would lose his polycule if he published "An Open Letter to Whichever of You Fuckers Is JD Vance", so, alas.

Yeah. The only reason I got to MT as a bear was because my IRL friends and I founded a guild, and I earned the trust doing heroic 5 mans in TBC with them before we got to the raids. It helped that among the double-handed lot of them there was like 1.5 healers and then a whole mess of mages, warlocks and hunters, so there was no real competition for the slot.

I did Bear in TBC. It was fine most of the time. There were some fights where it was straight better. But too many important fights had Warrior specific mechanics. Does Illidan still functionally require the ability to block?

Cornell recently released survey results claiming that 35% of female undergraduates reported non-consensual sexual contact in the last year (it will not take long for anyone here reviewing this survey to spot many issues). Given the apparent epidemic of such behavior, it would seem time to return to universities having far more control over student behavior to keep those students safe.
More like time to shut down Cornell University and bring charges against everyone responsible for its operations. Cornell is more dangerous for women than an African nation in a civil war where rape is being specifically and broadly used as a weapon!

The point is to needle them about this fact and highlight their hypocrisy to onlookers.
That can sort of, maybe, sometimes work when you're citing actual principles, like questioning the compassion of a Christian, or pointing out when a progressive is being racist and sexist. And it still mostly fails because real ideologies have already grappled with those topics. The Christian will say that forgiveness requires repentence so they can fully condemn unrepentant evildoers; the progressive will say that they feel like a scrappy underdog so their hatred is righteous.
Scott's post is mostly very defensive snark on trite descriptors, except for the compassion thing which is already fatally undercut in that he's making that argument on behalf of people who are half a step away from being Nurgle worshippers.

I think the biggest tell is how they focus on people, on the relations between them. Men and women have different ways of assessing the men and women around them, different ways of relating to the same and opposite sex.

This is another huge one, especially in the field of pseudonym-cloaked online writing. In theory, I know literally nothing about author CoffeeBacon666, but in practice their female main character is just an autistic dude in a dress with some childish affections.
I could see myself being more confused in a genre I was less familiar with. It would be interesting to take on a challenge like "Read these three mystery writers. All have male names, but some of them are actually female writers. Can you figure it out?"

It's the intersection of athleticism and upper-class coding. Think of the stereotype of a desirable man from a romance novel. Tall, handsome, rich, jacked, with the arrogance and domineering attitude that results. Get a lacrosse all-star bit by a werewolf and he's basically the ideal man to a large portion of the women in America.
Speaking as someone who called himself a libertarian for 20 years, the logic was always:
Pick two. Option number 2 is essentially non-negotiable at this point, and absolutely no one has even the faintest glimmer of a fantasy of a plan to actually address it, which means adding option 1 necessarily closes off option 3. Any libertarian failing to grasp this, at this point, is just a retard or engaged in enemy action.
