What worries me is that some of the voices I like on twitter are departing (Popehat, Coding horror). Left leaning but usually worth paying attention to. Those are the type of users (unlike journo-s) that twitter can't afford to lose. Not sure if network effects will be that strong.
Musk should probably tone down the things a bit to at least try to boil the frog.

Average americans have precious little disposable income. there are numerous studies that show that X% of americans lack the capacity to cover emergency expence of Y dollars where Y is some trivial sum compared to the GDP per capita. And the things that are excluded usually from inflation measures include stuff like food, fuel, housing etc.
So the americans are squeezed hard and obviously the economy is not doing well. The cost disease has been fucking up americans since the 70s with couple of boom years in the 90s excluded. And I don't think it is slowing, let alone reversing.
In my neck of the woods prices of food, especially animal products almost doubled since pre 2020. Now the absolute price per shitty calorie is still low, especially if you cook at home. But you enjoy either lower quality diet or less discretionary spending for trips to italy. either way your standard of living is lower. If for enough people standard of living is getting lower, the economy is obviously not doing well, no matter what metrics say.
Simple math - if food, gas and housing are 50% of your income, 10% increase in their cost leaves you with 20% less discretionary money.

The most important thing for Israel is that it moves toward firing squads and summary execution of perhaps 10,000-30,000 fighting age men in Gaza, as well as the entire political leadership, mercilessly but quickly and professionally. But then again, I’m a Zionist.
Support that plan. Unfortunately the only way to deal with monsters is to show that you are the bigger monster and right now you are wearing a leash of your own making and won't it be wonderful if we are to put on both our leashes. Or else. Every Palestinian grunt and thug that has entered Israel today must die. Every part of the command chain that has approved - also. And the political leadership should be decapitated (figuratively, but literal is also acceptable). Then you go to the top survivor and ask nicely - you are now leader. Are you going to behave. If they refuse - shoot him and move to the one under him.

The best thing Israel could do for the Palestinian people is to straight up occupy Gaza and the West Bank and declare them to be parts of Israel and their inhabitants citizens
RIP Israel. This will be the end of the state. Much better idea is to talk with Egypt to annex it and move them somewhere beyond the Aswan dam

Not a mod, but lets try to unpack a bit - Don't fear - when you start it is obliviously that at least some sarcasm will follow, more probably snark up to culture warring. Not that first two are against the rules, but are discouraged.
Second sentence - statement of truth - there is link (although a quote to give context would have been more appropriate) and it is fine.
Third sentence - here is where I think the OP got in trouble - statement of fact, that will be inflammatory to a sizeable chunk of the people here. Now if you start fires you better bring facts or quotations. Those are missing. There is not even attempt to soften it as expressing it as an opinion or at least saying it is a trend. I don't think that this is established fact when half the people think otherwise. It is established fact in an echo chamber.

I think that the issue is that people don't want a small town life in suburbs, they want big city life but with low density. Not that it is not achievable - London was doing quite ok with the row and semi detached houses build around the communities it had devoured, but those houses are tiny and quite densely packed with very small plot of land as the backyard.

Anticommunists in Post Soviet countries means something like the SJW/anti colonialists and the likes - basically 30 years after the berlin wall fell they still love to blame every bad current thing and failure that happens to them on "communism". Not talking about people trying to overthrow cuba or NK governments.

A wider middle eastern war means Israel will fall unless christian troops enter the fray. Turkey is very worrying wild card and they will have zero resistance if they invade bulgaria and greece. Which have nothing to stop them with. And Ergodan has some ottoman restoration dreams. They may not even have to revoke the NATO membership to make things even more confusing. And they have couple of million of refugees that they can draft.
So right now western powers have choice - protect what is left of Bulgaria - mostly Sofia, northern parts above the Balkan mountains. Protect serbia or protect Vienna. Throw the mess in Ukraine. Assume that suddenly all those muslims we already accepted suddenly decide to cause trouble - no matter if provoked or not. So you will soon have a lot of crises. And you are just one or two in asia to have world war. Thank got that latin america is peaceful at least (in not a keg of powder sense)

I think it depends on definitions and perceptions. I would never consider expats, permanents residents, people with dual citizenships or ones obtained by means other than blood as equal, so in my mind they deserve less protection - so their own country whacking them is not a big deal. If you subscribe to the idea that all people deserve equal protection - then of course it is outrageous.

I am fairly sure. I am talking about logistics though. The nazis had better technology, better records, much smaller (and better pacified) territory than the south, targeted a way smaller percentage of the population and they still managed to half ass the thing.

Despite some nostalgic revisionism, there was nothing pre-ordained about the fall of the Soviet Union, or that it would occur in the way it did.
I think that after the mid 70s it was clear. In the early 80s everyone just waited for the regime to die. Probably there were signs during the space race too - but then the smart people were either too pro USSR or too blinded by anti communism to be objective.

This is one of those - ok let's see what will happen. Frankly I want the region peaceful and stopped from sending people to Europe. The peace of prosperity is prefferable. The peace of the graveyard is acceptable.
And Israel has enough material base and a lot of smart people to produce them fast. Although the aid send to Ukraine would probably have been better used in Israeli hands.
I think that if you want trans people in a game you should look at pre 00s representation of trans. Drag Queens, Pricila Queen of the desert, Mulan, sitcoms - MtF - bold over the top in your face and everybody just shrugging. And FtM - mostly kinda feminine men that do blend in.

But a place is more than economic abstraction. A working class Londoner that has rented in London since his grand grand father died at Passchendaele for me has more right to live in London compared to the son of an African dictator. It matters how long you have been in a place for me.
