Just finished Between Two Fires.
I’m not religious and have zero biblical knowledge - loved the entire book.
Like a buddy road trip book about a gay priest, a dishonored knight, and a 12 year old girl walking through plaque stricken Europe because angels are telling the girl to.
Several very fun fantastical depictions, a wonderful ending (with a full on dire description of Hell), a fun twist - awesome!

I’ve worked retail for 24 years - we’re all the same stupid cunts we’ve always been.
Honestly, people seem a tad smarter more than anything. Maybe a bit more histrionic.
There’s definitely been a shift post Covid of a kind that seems more lawless (tho I don’t literally mean law abiding) but the one you’re describing I only get a sense of online.
But also there’s now over 50 million more of us than when I started working so I don’t know - ask me in 19 years and 6 months when I retire I guess.

My kid got me into Warframe.
Been meaning to check it out for a decade now and hey it’s pretty good!
I played free for 30 hours then spent 20$ when they were having a 50% sale and got some cool cosmetics and another Warframe - have four of them unlocked so far.
I’m @65 hours over several weeks and it’s still fun - hour to 1.5 hour sessions a few times a week with a few 3-4 hour long ones.
I’ll clear out the star chart and do some end game stuff and call it a day - I’ll probably spend another 20-40$ on it.
Scratches an itch.

Honestly if you want to feel amazing about yourself, grow some weed. Pick a variety of ones that look cool to you and grow them and they’ll look just as cool as the pics. Dunno if that’s legal there.

I shall not be having children but my fiancé has two boys (now 16&17) and I am influencing them for the better.
They’ll be fine.

I’ve yet to see a boomer that doesn’t think like a boomer - but I’m dumb and work retail and so meet people that are, what I would politely call more normal than some people may meet on this forum.
I’m not saying you’re rich and meet smarter and more elite thinking boomers, but I would say that if I were thinking of a fictional person on the motte.
I also agree with your take about how the youngins think about lunch, breakfast, etc.

I have two 800$ ish Seiko’s I enjoy.
One gold and one silver.
I like wearing them - it makes me feel fancy.
I did get them for 52% off when I worked at Dillard’s during our 4X annual double discount days.
Would like a nice, black Movado as well one day.
A grand Seiko maybe for retirement.
It’ll look good with my long sleeve Hawaiian shirts.

I’ve worked in retail my entire career, sometimes it’s fun to have a swim weekend and wear a bathing suit.
Sometimes it’s fun to wear a pink lay (pink is my favorite color).
It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about how you carry yourself doing it.
If you don’t want to do it, don’t.
But if you don’t know if you want to do it, try it. Don’t be so negative (not you of course, the random make belief person we’re talking to here) - everyone knows retail is purgatory, it’s just ok to be goofy.
I’ve noticed men are literally afraid to do these things rather than not wanting to do them.
Tho I agree with what you’re saying, there’s just something off and jarring about it as well.
I do hate the whiny ‘ they made me do it ‘ - it is the worst possible make trait.
I watched it because of your comment and agree completely - it’s awful.
