Between his post and yours my take away is that I'm now glad I can't date because going to a forest, finding a good sturdy tree branch and hanging oneself seems preferable to cultivating your romance instincts to be sociopathic so you can 'date' effectively.
I hated dating when I did it, I hated being rejected and having to reject, hated the awkwardness, hated that there was basically no one there relatable.
Honestly thanks for the post - I can brew some quality copium out of it.

Things have been mostly decaying since the Apartheid gov't fell. Government is now saying it has "no duty" to ensure reliable power.
Afrikaners mostly have a plan that involves evacuating to Cape Province, and declaring independence there together with the locals. There's already 60% support. (in Cape, for Cape independence)
It's the only part of SA that kind of works because it's only 20% black, has the most whites iirc and coloreds in SA are less bad at governance than blacks.

I think it may be deliberate. Not having a translator with an American or British accent makes it clear whose event this is - a Chinese event.
Personally I like the Chinese accent when it's not too hard to understand. Probably from too much exposure to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, whose Chairman Yang while .. not really sympathetic is a very memorable character!, partly because of the odd accents and weird musical pronunciation. It wasn't probably wholly genuine- the voice actor lived in the US for quite some time, so I imagine he stopped having a strong accent..

One could argue they need racist bigotry more than anyone else on account of their tendency to favor outsiders.
If you're nice and cooperative to people who will be nice and cooperative back at you because they're the same kind of weird moral mutant, it's mutually beneficial.
It's not advantageous to you to be nice to some subcontinental who is far more ethnocentric and is going to ruthlessly take advantage of your niceness and then keep on lecturing you for years on how racist you are.

Supposedly, there've been 4 'transgender' shooters in the last ten months.
Not really surprising - it's rarely mentally sound people who go for that kind of thing. I remember reading about the Crimo case - guy was a nut, and possibly the entire 'trans' angle was him using make-up / female clothing to make ID-ing him harder. Facial tattoos and all that.
But this is the first one where even people who aren't fans of self-id would admit that yes, this was a transgender individual.
I don't need to mention that where humans cannot expect compassion, the fate of man's best friend is not at all uncertain.

Whether their communist legacy will override this insular, non-missionary tendency once they're the unquestionably the most powerful country and recognized as such - I don't know.
Personally, I'd like to fuck off from this planet into deep space as soon as it becomes possible, purely on risk reduction grounds. I think the absolutely clearest evidence of it was bullshit was that invalid votes went to zero, basically. In every other case - older mail voting in the US, mail voting elsewhere it's like 1-2% because filling out ballots is not that easy.
Also, a recent fun incident, the illegal immigrant multiple felon who tried a mass shooting at one of those megachurches and she was registered as a voter in the county system. The screenshot posted is mine, I went and looked it up to check if people weren't just making it up.
Is voting registration a joke and not checked against national citizen databases or what ?

Web advertising is patronage, not about measurable outcomes.. Once twitter slipped from the grasp of the managerial regime, the advertisers were told to back off.
All the old big company ads disappeared after the the takeover, and some large companies came back months later, but in a greatly diminished number.
Do you truly think Raytheon ads on MSNBC, ads by a company which doesn't sell anything civilians can buy, is using ads as anything but patronage?

Handy talking point. I know it's a Communist tactic because literal Communists functionaries to whom I was talking (my grandparents) were very big on it, and Communists were known to be hierarchical and coordinate their talking points very well.
You can ask them why then e.g. European countries that never colonised anyone such as say, FInland, Sweden, Poland are all vastly better off despite e.g. Poland starting from the low point of having had an inefficient planned economy imposed on it for decades.

Was this what it was like in 2002-2003 when Afghanistan and Iraq were starting? Did every remotely public intellectual drop their standards this quickly? I remember the Anti-war movement being more prominent at the time... Was that only after the fact?
There were very big or even huge (500k+) anti-war rallies, especially outside of the US before the war started, notably in Uk and Italy.
But inside US, very few pundits were openly against the war. Largest demo was cca 100k.
Exiled Online did an accounting of pundits, it turned out practically everyone who was wrong either nothing happened or got promoted, pundits who called it correctly were mostly fired.
Not sure about public intellectuals at the time. I'd be that it was similar though to a lesser degree. After all, that was a war against brown people, a totem. Now we're talking war against Russia, which symbolises hateful white man's past in many ways. I believe it's worse now - everything is aligned in favor cheerleading.

Almost simultaneously, the DOJ has announced that they will begin prosecuting J6 protesters who did not enter the Capitol building but were present in the demonstration outside. These protesters are expected to be charged with something more than misdemeanors.

My heart bleeds for Apple users. Every time I am forced to use an Iphone - which is every time my boomer doctor father has some problem he can't figure out, I feel like screaming. It's like if someone took an Android phone and lobotomized it.
First time a few years back I found myself in utter disbelief when told the Iphone does not have a file system. There's no simple way for apps to share files.
Why people pay for these abominations is quite unclear. Fashion ? Don't know any better ?
To be clear, the bills that are supposed to 'ban tiktok' would also enable regulation of any other media simply by claiming that managers or owners of said media are 'rival influenced'. So you could go after Twitter e.g. because Musk posted unflattering claims about Ukrainian war and the only reason for that is that he's Russian influenced. The bill said "owned or controlled, directly or indirectly". That seems incredibly broad to be honest.
You'd only be able to challenge this law in a specific D.C. Court. Good luck!
