It's a scam because you don't have magic energy storage.
Sufficient Battery storage - and you can verify this yourself - would require metropolitan area sized battery arrays. (I did some basic calcs for flow batteries)
So you either have to be content for closing down the country for a few random weeks in a year, or maintain an entire parallel mostly idle power system to pick up the slack.

Project Veritas published another video that has gone on to have millions of views, but no media is willing to touch it - even Daily Mail deleted its article about it within hours.
I thought there'd be some coverage here, but apparently... ? It's a very CW event I believe.
Gist of it is, some affirmative action double minority hire (both gay and black) MD working for Pfizer under the lofty sounding but probably not that important position of "Pfizer Director, Research & Development Strategic Operations for mRNA scientific planning"
got slightlyy drunk with his Grindr date and said a good bunch of plausible seeming stuff, ranging from gosh, the revolving door between regulators and Pfizer is kinda unethical, but good for us to saying Pfizer is considering doing its own gain-of-function research to come up with better vaccines via either serial passage or something else. Give it a watch if you're interested, I think he wasn't making it up.
Then PV met up with him again, and showed him a tablet with the captured video. He said he had made all of that up to impress his date. (doubtful).
The second video is probably more interested for people who like "public freakouts" as the guy first acts like a bad gay stereotype, and later as a black one, at one point trying to destroy PV's tablet.
Interesting is that people like Majid Nawaaz were seen coming up with 12d chess theories about how this is an op to discredit Veritas and that the guy was a plant.
People have saved his Linked in before it got deleted and videos of him from schools he had attended according to his linked in, so if it's an op, it's an improbably good one.

They say they aren't doing serial passage / gain of function but are merely putting new spikes on the original virus in vitro, in an effort to see whether the vaccine still does something against new variants. I feel normies won't like this one bit.
They also say that they're doing "in vitro resistance selection experiments are undertaken in cells incubated with SARS-CoV-2 and nirmatrelvir in our secure Biosafety level 3 (BSL3) laboratory".
So, it does seem like the guy is an idiot who talked about stuff they admit they were doing, of which he doesn't know enough about and which seems mostly reasonable, and then completely fucked up by adding in his own speculation about what they could do.
I'd say the video is most notable for seeing how absolutely blasé insiders can be about corruption and conflicts of interest. I guess if you have med school debts to pay off, chortling about how 'covid and covid vaccines are going to be great for the company' comes naturally ?

I was aware of the latter, but not of the former. I thought he was just a young journalist, not a young journalist fresh off from fed-land with a top secret clearance.
There's this incredible segment by Tucker Carlson that basically lays out a theory Nixon was not as big a crook as we think, and that he was set up because he tried to keep the government subordinate to its notional head.
To sum it up, the claim is that Watergate was a palace coup, where the secret services overthrew the US government, and have kept it under control ever since through influence operations.
It does look persuasive to me. Too persuasive, if you were pulling a coup of this sort, would you make one of the protagonists a retired naval officer with that kind of background ? Ok, I'm done expressing my confusion and astonishment with what I've learned today. If this isn't content fit for themotte, please let me know!

It's eight hours, I mean, anyone wants a rabbit hole to fall down through. I feel like I should watch it at some point, though there's probably an analysis somewhere.
It seems to be fairly tame conspiracy stuff: some classic secret societies, homosexuals, political murder, drug running, saudis, etc. However, the nice lady talking about is, if she says who she is, in a position where she may have actually learned something. If she made it up, it's a great performance, if she hasn't, it's not very surprising.

No? I recall everyone and their mother calling J.D.Vance, the seemingly most normal guy in politics, ever, weird. There is clear coordination. Back during Trump's first campaign, there was a minor scandal that pretty much every major media sent a high ranking guy to some Clinton event to coordinate campaign messaging.
Also, the TV and newspapers pretty much belongs to the democrats. Not that anyone except those who await death pays attention to legacy media (, but the left has something like 75% of the TV and 90% of the paper market, at least.
Interestingly, no coverage of a hot-button recent CW issue.
TL;DR: a low-class looking married mom of 2 had an altercation on a playground in Rochester, MN. Her story is that a kid stole from her bag and she alled the kid the gamer word.
Then, a Somali man who was also present on the playground and who then was due for court over a '22 rape this week confronted her, phone in hand and recorded the confrontation. {obviously, multiple instances of gamer word in the video, from both parties}
She called him the gamer word too and flipped him the bird. Cue online outrage, she is collecting donation to relocate.
After this blew up, the rape charges against the guy who made the video were dissmissed. (see bottom of post, links). It's fairly close to a textbook perfect 'scissor' event, seems to me.
The video was amplified by some sleazy music video director and the mom claims they are getting death threats. People who went through his old tweets found..interesting stuff, he is some sort of perv. Needless to say this isn't his first rodeo - he's been chasing view by covering race and other hot-button nonsense online.
A recent development I just found about while writing is, the man who made the video had the rape charges against him dismissed 'in the interest of justice'.(local news link). It wasn't just some silly statutory rape - he and his brother offered shelter to a runaway from the foster system and supposedly raped her multiple times. The two defendants of course maintained it was all made up.
All in all, it's an interesting development. I don't understand how someone can just dismiss rape charges (more detail including a link) like this. I haven't read the court documents though.

A gigawatt plant operating 70-80% of the time for decades puts out unimaginably large amounts of power.
Uranium is less than 1% of plant operating costs.
Reactor is the only unique part, steam turbines/electric machinery used are identical to those in other plants and are you really in camp of "couple of thousand tons of reinforced concrete' require gigawatt years worth of power?
Nuclear power isn't competitive because laws were made - e.g Alara so it couldn't be.
Ignoring the race issue, I was very impressed overall.

Anyways, I would be curious on others thoughts here (assuming anyone is willing to watch a nearly two hour video by someone most would consider an ideological opponent.
My 2 cents are - if she wants me to engage with her arguments, better start a substack or something. Or not put 'herself' in videos.
I've had her videos bludgeoned into my youtube feed, and .. there's something about elaborate theatrics and 'her' entire 'performance' that repulsed me. Watched maybe 4 minutes and then told youtube to give me a break.
My takeaway from this whole 'trans and gay' craze of the last decade is I'm very sympathetic to the way the old communists treated the topic.
They tolerated it, as in, the more thoughtful places did not jail them, but it was given absolutely zero media visibility.
And were they wrong? Anorexia and bulimia are (see SA's "Crazy Like Us") are self-inflicted problems.
I maintain that to a large degree, the trans issue is the same thing. Even if you look at google trends, ftm and trans are slowly replacing bulimia /anorexia in search interests.
As a society, we'd be better off if these concepts were taboo, unspeakable. Same as you don't tell kids "do not lick frozen metal" because of course they'll give it a try, you shouldn't tell kids "if you feel like you don't belong with your sex, maybe you are trans".
No, maybe you're just weird. Plenty of people are weird and don't find it easy to belong. Either get used to it, but trying to use the uncanny-valley to get somewhere where you belong never ends well.

I feel like this pattern is borne out among my friends and acquaintances too. I'm in my 30s, and I know quite a few women who have had serious mental health crises (usually associated with high stress jobs, especially in combination with parenting), whereas my male friends have mostly thrived, and now are happily ensconced in their careers and having kids.

To be clear, the bills that are supposed to 'ban tiktok' would also enable regulation of any other media simply by claiming that managers or owners of said media are 'rival influenced'. So you could go after Twitter e.g. because Musk posted unflattering claims about Ukrainian war and the only reason for that is that he's Russian influenced. The bill said "owned or controlled, directly or indirectly". That seems incredibly broad to be honest.
You'd only be able to challenge this law in a specific D.C. Court. Good luck!
