Counter argument: without censorship, online communities naturally drift rightward as the sacred cows of progressives are slaughtered one by one with simple evidence.

Banning discussion of the legimitacy of elections, discussion of whether the neovaccines/masks are effective or not, discussion that homo sapiens is a sexually dimorphic mammalian species on the one hand,

and explicit content parental advisory lyrics on the other hand.

Personally, I think that's a false equivalency.

I just want my account back which was permanently banned for criticizing mRNA jabs and declaring war on the CIA.

"Maidan was a CIA plot."

I'm sure much of it was organic. But it's naive to think that the CIA wasn't involved early and at the ground level as it was obviously in their interest.

I could always be wrong but I would be genuinely shocked if the CIA wasn't involved at all. If you concede thay they were involved, then we are just debating how involved they were and how much and how well the organic movent would have gotten without them.

As a staunch far right conservative, I unironically support the trans-officer in this situation as I did the Rosenbergs, who were time travelers, sent back to spare us from the darkest timeline, even though I do not believe that men can magically become women. (But when in clown world...) I do believe that humans are a sexually dimorphic mammalian species and that time travel is rare.

Edit: Futurists will hate me for this but my position is that time travel should be safe, legal, and rare.

You're probably too young to understand this, but your self value doesn't (shouldn't) derive to how much power you wield over people online.

Again, you may want to pause and reflect.

Is there anyone arguing that the last two years was NOT a "shit show"?

I thought pretty much everyone agreed that it was indeed a shitshow, but that the specifics were still being debated. (Happy to be shown I am wrong. Please point me to the person who thinks the pandemic went off in an exceedingly well-ordered manner.)

Otherwise, are you not moderating for an imaginary hypothetical person?

Secondarily, it's a fairly common phrase. You don't really think I was trying to build a consensus, do you? (I wasn't.)

For my own clarification, is it "consensus-building" idioms and expressions that are outlawed, or actual consensus building?

Yeah I get it. But just once I'd like to see Warf as a human. Like a weird love for cheesy philly hoagies. Our ice fishing. Or something just human that he excelled at... jiu jitsu maybe. I would love a Worf origin story. I wouldn't even mind if it went ueber woke.

Is that weird?

Does that make me a xenophobe?

Edit: I want to see Warf: the Origin Story. In theaters soon!

I just thought of this now after coming back to your post...

but if women are just as strong as men, why do they need protection from rapists? Why can't they just fight back?

Jarring question, but I think it reveals one example of how the disattachment from reality can have unforeseen consequences.

Reality is that which, when you stop belieiving in it, doesn't go away.

WTC7 is apparently the only modern tall building to collapse primarily from a fire.

But I've seen videos of dozens of controlled demolitions and they all look like WTC7.

All of your points are great and you're probably right.

But if you wanted to cheat, you would merely need a mechanism to delay likely opponent's votes, i.e. areas where their constituents live.

Basically, anonymous voting already has a trade off of less security in exchange for anonymity. But it allows backdoor attacks since a voter cannot check to who their vote was finally counted for. Combined with the security tradeoffs of mass mail in ballots, a sophisticated agency could cheat the vote, and while suspicions might be raised if it didnt go smoothly, the anonymous voting means there is no means to check the final count by the backdoor.

I cannot say for certain if there was cheating only that the current system is vulnerable to it.

But all-cause mortality is arguably the MOST important measure for any drug or vaccine - especially one meant to be given prophylactically to large numbers of healthy people, as vaccines are.

I never claimed to "rebut any criteria." I pointed out that the Pfizer trial failed 1 of the 3 criteria, arguably the most important one.

It gets worse-

9 vaccine recipients died from cardiovascular events such as heart attacks or strokes, compared to 6 placebo recipients who died of those causes. The imbalance is small but notable, considering that regulators worldwide have found that the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines are linked to heart inflammation in young men.

Sneer Club is gonna love this one!

[Edit: In hindsight it looks like I hit a sore spot of the moderators- Sneerclub. I don't know exactly what the full story is with Sneerclub but clearly there is more going on here.]

No I am not. It was a silly prompt which I responded to in a silly but plausible manner before you showed up at Defon one threatening to hit me with the banhammer.

How are you any different than the Reddit mods who force the Motte to move away from Reddit? Because I struggle to see a difference.

What is the health benefit of a sauna? When I go to the gym, I always finish with swimming a few laps, then jacuzzi, then sauna. It's part of my ritual. But is there any actual health benefit to sitting around sweating for five minutes at the end of a work out?

The maskers I see where I work are only about 5% of everyone. I see them as hardcore redguards. I know that they will likely be among those who interrogate me a few years from now before sending me to the gulag.

The Covid episode is mostly passed for now but the radicalized among us remain like sleeper agents, ready to coerce us into ever more experimental medical treatments at the slightest pretext.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I want to try the rack but worried I might need a belt. It's the most used part of the gym so I'll just have to assert my place in line one day. Just worried I'll embarrass myself doing it the first time. But I need to take it to the next level. I think squats are a good way to do that.

Credit where credit is due- this is a step in the right direction. I dislike Biden strongly but I agree with this.

Also, it was nice to see him share the podium in Florida with Desantis during the hurricane.

Also, I think it was a class act for Biden to personally call Peter Doocy from Fox news and apologize for calling him a "son of a bitch." It made Biden relatable in that moment, almost likable even.

Again, I dislike Biden strongly but it's important to recognize what he gets right, if only to combat one's own cognitive bias.

"Due to the culture-war dimension of Ivermectin, whose efficacy the red tribe in the US has entangled its social status with (no point in recounting the way this happened here), there is an obvious motivation for members of that tribe to produce compelling-looking arguments for its efficacy."

The corollary to this is that the FDA itself went out of its way to smear Ivermectin as horse dewormer. The FDA tweeted the following over a year ago. Is it normal for the FDA to mock drugs like this?

"You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y'all. Stop it."

This seems to me way worse than Bret Weinstein getting overly excited about Ivermectin and jumping the gun on a study that turned out to be no good.

So I have the opposite point in favor of Ivermectin, and in fact, Scott makes a similar point in saying that big pharma suppresses cheap old generic drugs all the time to get people to take their new expensive drugs. It's their marketing model. So we know at least millions of dollars of marketing are being spent to take down Ivermectin. Who is spending the big money in favor of Ivermectin?Nobody.

Weak evidence in one or two videos and witnesses claiming to have hear blasts.

However the perfect collapse into its own footprint is a feature of a controlled demolition.

endlesss scrolling through omnibus threads... no thanks. And without even knowing what year these best writers posted in?

No thanks. Keep your esoteric knowledge.

"The collapse of WTC 7 is the first known instance of a tall building brought down primarily by uncontrolled fires."

What am I supposed to compare it to if it's a unique event?

Has there been any attempts to reach out to Sneer club since the move off Reddit? Perhaps we could offer shared hosting/servers? I would be willing to donate some cash for such a move in the spirit of "love your enemies" (for they keep you epistemologically humble.)

Yes if the brochures had intentional lies then that would call it into question. But merely false information might not, since the false information could have simply been copied from MA website.

What doesn't make sense is why they are claiming they were told they were going to D.C. after being given pamphlets to Massachusetts. That sounds like somebody not getting their story straight of the kind that happens with lies, or when the truth is being twisted into a narrative. IF the brochure had a map of Martha's Vineyard, it doesn't add up to say that you weren't told about Martha's vineyard and thought you were going to D.C.

If I had to guess, this is informational warfare from team blue. Prima facie, if I give you a map and a plane ticket to Martha's vineyard and you sign a consent form, it seems ridiculous to claim that you thought you were going to DC. However it does make sense to me that DNC political operatives are repeatedly asking for and incentivizing such answers to their questions until they hear what they want. A kind of after-the-fact 3rd party Smolletting.

Well I have read dozens of times on Twitter that Lyman has been taken but to this day that seems not to be the case. (Of course you're right it could change overnight.) But the quick victory seems to have stalled out at a well prepared defensive line that would lend credence to the intentionality of the move, even if it the retreat itself didn't go as planned.
