War? I guess there aren't exactly any fixed and universal criteria to consult, but is it really a war, outright? That seems to me to imply higher stakes. In some senses, not in all. I meant to paint a picture, not to provide an exacting argument. Equality in general is often taken to mean that all humans are somehow equally valuable/competent/moral, which is laughably untrue even on very casual observation, and equality before the law often comes with a lot of caveats regarding enforcement, court costs, procedural shenanigans. Fiat currency is valuable only because market participants agree to pretend that it is. I'm not saying that those concepts aren't useful and beneficial, or that they're eactly as untrue by some metric as believing some other fiction, but they do require some level of suspension of disbelief or kayfabe to work.

Well fair enough, I was thinking more of Germany. I should probably preface all my posts with "Meanwhile, in the land of the Germans...". And our best and most beautiful buildings are usually survivors from the late middle ages, or baroque, and you can't exactly build that way anymore. Our immediately-post-war architecture is offensively ugly and our later buildings are so expensive that it makes you wonder how they could achieve such price tags without making the roofs out of solid gold.
Looking at those, they are all somewhat pompous. Maybe that's appropriate though? Not that ours are any better, mind you. The predominant style there just doesn't appeal much to me personally.

Obviously I don't know a damn thing about you and it may very well be that you are undergoing a spike of depression and presenting yourself in a fashion that highlights you at your worst, rather than at your usual. But with that caveat out of the way, and taking what you write here at absolute face value rather than as an exaggerating vent - have you considered suicide?

Right on the is, but I'd disagree on the ought. This discrepancy shows that other countries tax too heavily, and offer too little in exchange. Ireland is making a better offer. This seems to me to be a free-ish market working as intended.
