Unretarding the import queries is going quite well, though it seems to be coming at the cost of the complexity in the code. Hopefully I'll be able to clean it all up once it's done, but I'm eager to move on to something showoffable...

How are you doing @Southkraut?

Some minor coding, preparations for future "features", but nothing visible.

I entered an encaustic painting for the local library art show in a couple of months; they don't have very high standards and are unlikely to reject it. I also entered some pieces for a show that has standards, and they're supposed to respond by the end of the month about whether they're accepted or not. They are oil paintings and oil and cold wax. I've been enjoying oil and cold wax lately, because of the way it allows scratching or carving back through the layers, and would like to experiment with it further.

My jalapeno and cheese sausage turned out well; I'm probably going to try my hand at andouille if I can bag a hog this year. It's probably my last batch before deer season opens in the fall.

I’m getting into carving/whittling, mainly because I want an offline hobby that keeps my hands busy and frees up my mind to wander. I mainly want to make small 3D animal figures as gifts for friends, does anyone have any experience/tips for a beginner?

No, but please document your progress if you take it up, and post hints yourself. It's one of the hobbies I was considering myself.
