The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:
-
Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.
-
Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.
-
Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.
-
Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

Lentil and carrot salad is awesome. It lasts days and days. And it's full of carrots and lentils!
I also made the san franciscano beans in the crock pot with just salted water. Then I sprinkle them with some cheese on top of some tortilla chips. Put in the toaster oven for a few minutes and then sprinkle with chopped lettuce. It works out really nicely. Not as convenient as the lentil & carrot salad though.
I kept some of the bean water and I am debating seeing if I can turn it into meringue like you can with garbanzo bean water. How weird would that be?
These beans are cooking up easily. Still skipping the soaking. I have about half a pound of prepared beans left, and 2 lbs of dried beans.
I may have to pause the bean experiments though because my daughter says she misses biscuits and gravy. Biscuits are no problem but my husband made the gravy. I guess between the two of us we can figure it out. But I envision a lot of X-and-mediocre-gravy meals until we get it dialed in.
What is it you're after, btw? Dating apps seem calibrated for hookups. If you want marriage material it may be better to look elsewhere.

Aquafaba. Vegans can be so creative I had no idea this was a thing.
Mediocre gravy is still gravy. Way I see it, there's only two real ways to mess up gravy: flour and heat. Clumped, burned, or undercooked in the roux. Afterwards, the world is your oyster. Worcestershire, rich drippings, or try hardcore po'dunk mode with diced chicken gizzard.
Too much salt can definitely be a problem.

Mediocre gravy is mediocre gravy. I have never successfully made a roux. We will see how it goes!

I love carrot and radish salad: grate or julienne both vegetables, add your favorite salad oil, salt and pepper. Still quite filling while being light. Radish can be replaced with kohlrabi.
That sounds good. I bet it would be nice w/lemon juice as a lighter alternative to the oil, too.
