A weekly thread to discuss financial matters - from personal all the way up to global.
Ground Rules
- Remember that we're all just Internet randos. Don't bet your life savings on a hot tip from this thread.
- Keep culture war in the culture war thread. Yes, global events may impact our personal finances, but that does not mean we have to incessantly harp on culture war aspects here. If you are going to discuss it, please stick to the practical impacts of it on an individual level.
- Be kind. Remember that everyone here comes from different circumstances. We all have different resources available and different risk tolerances.
- Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Better is better. Celebrate people when they take a step up and work to move their finances in the right direction. Don't flame out because they haven't followed what you consider the optimal path. Everybody has to start somewhere.

Notes -
It's so dumb how the entirety of the 2026 AI rally was compressed into 4 weeks between April-May . The Nasdaq has otherwise been flat. This meant changing my strategy to selling long-dated covered calls.
I did this for space-x and then for other tech stocks. This was 3 months ago. This has worked well given that market has done nothing since then. If you sell a long-dated at the money cash covered SPY call (expires in 800-900 days) you can capture most of the upside in a rally and gain 1%/month of theta decay in flat market.
I would have expected a stronger and more consistent rally given all the AI hype.

Honestly I put up big numbers when that ended. I suck at momo trading. But once AI stocks quit going up you started seeing big moves in every other name. It’s a function of how indexes affect the market.
Markets just price new ideas faster today. It’s possible we see another crazy rally in AI stocks but things like Micron went firm 300-1200 in that time period. You can’t have sectors 4x every 2 months.
