Midterms Megathread

Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.

The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

Decision Desk HQ projects Jon Ossoff wins the GA US Senate General Election #DecisionMade: 7:18 PM EST

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2028 Democratic presidential nominee.

Unironically I can see him as being presidential material. He looks kind, unlike pretty much all recent candidates since Obama/Romney.

He's Jewish, so it seems unlikely

No way he gets past Queen Kamala.

Neither party gives anyone who lose a Presidential general election a second shot very often. Prior to Trump you're looking back to Nixon and Adlai E. Stevenson in decades before.

He didn't lose a general. He lost a primary. And that happens all the time. Literally the last 3 democratic nominees have been previous primary election washouts. (Harris, Biden, Clinton).

I think he was talking about Harris

Kamala is not gonna be the nominee. When she actually faced a primary she dropped out before any votes were cast she was polling so low.

I don't know. Demoralisation of the other team (or some blind hope of achieving it) has been the supreme aspiration of American politicians for a while now, and nothing would demoralise right-wingers like exploiting the burned wastes left in Trump's wake to run Kamala again and win.

The black machine politicians who determine Democratic primaries don't want four years of President Vance, so Kamala is unlikely to be the nominee.
