In my spare time, I have been playing platformer and sidescroller games. I finally snaked around to celeste.

Not a fan of the story, mostly because the characters are whiny and annoying, but damn if the soundtrack isn't a tour de force and the gameplay makes me want to break my controller.

Luckily the dialogue is short, and the game wastes little time getting to crushing me with its difficulty while ensuring progression is possible.

Have you played Astalon? It's fantastic, easily one of my favourite metroidvanias, up there with Hollow Knight and DoS. It starts off kind of confusing and brutally hard, and you're just trying to make it through each room without dying, but as you unlock abilities and mechanics it gets bigger and you get better until you are zipping about the castle with ease, and the monsters you were so afraid of are like mozzies.

I’ve been playing Blasphemous recently and having good fun with it. Flawed in several distinctly low-budget ways, but the art and soundtrack are not among them.

I saw it a while ago after beating axiom verge, but didn't play it. Perhaps I'll give it a shot once once I've put celeste through its paces.

I've been disappointed there. I hoped to find a game with an actual religious theme, but then it only used religious aesthetics without attaching meaning to them.

I haven't played any challenging platformers since Super Meat Boy and was curious about Celeste. Sounds up my alley.

it's a good game, and worth a play. The level design is uneven sometimes, but that seems intentional.
