This is a megathread for any posts on the conflict between (so far, and so far as I know) Hamas and the Israeli government, as well as related geopolitics. Culture War thread rules apply.
No one, including the democrats, actually cares about Arab lives. For that matter the Arabs don’t care about Arab lives. Israel could get away with killing well north of a million civilians without repercussion beyond the level of a strongly worded note.

This is all about punishing Israelis, and Arabs are a convenient cudgel. We've seen it hundreds of times before: Israel bombs a mortar site, which was oddly located in an elementary school cafeteria 30 minutes after dropping pamphlets saying in 10 languages, "LEAVE THE SCHOOL WE ARE GOING TO DROP A BOMB." And then they "mysteriously" don't leave (don't mind the gunman at the door), and now a mortar and 20 kids are bombed, yet CNN's cameras can, again "mysteriously" only capture the dead bodies of the kids.
Ben Shapiro also makes the point that they drop "knock bombs" before the real bombs, the only purpose of those bombs is to shake the building to tell civillians to evacuate.

No, they don't care about Arab lives. But they do care about not being seen not caring about Arab lives. So when the anger dies down, they blame Israel for doing what it did, and also for all the sad images and videos they see in their social media feed.

Why are you called The Motte?
A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently,
it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey",
originally identified by
philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial
but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens
this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for
the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired
propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."
On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
