I deny this. Maybe there is a weak point to be made about nitrate free bacon being better. But bacon is healthy.
Right off the bat we're missing the mark and proposing sin taxes on the wrong things. And I know that the nannies of the nanny state would make this error but worse.

Fair enough. But I want a single family home in a single family neighborhood. So I will advocate that my local government enforce strict rules to keep it that way. We should build more apartments and condos. Just not in my neighborhood, and enforced by law.

Can we have a sensible right that also is not concerned with people's private sex lives? If that lesbian can decrease how many economic migrants are let into Germany, who cares about her Swiss wife? This new right may be incoherent, or maybe they are taking a page from the libertarians and not caring about strictly personal matters of strangers. As shocking as that would be to a 1950s conservative.

I would, rather accusatorily, say that a certain class of college educated unskilled white women are largely the benefactors. They get something visible and at least pretending to be important to do in their anti-productive administrative, HR and DEI jobs.

I'm using Firefox on android. I don't know if this is happening to others or just me. Maybe leaving the culture war roundup thread open for a few hours sometimes breaks my ability to comment? That's the only idea I can come up with.

But we are seeing weird stuff around payment processors.
Operation Choke Point. The conspiracy fact that Democratic administrations secretly and illegally coordinate with banks to deny banking services to porn sites, gun accessory sellers and others. When they did it under Obama they made sure to not write anything down in order to frustrate investigations into their malfeasance.
I spent a small amount of time working in China and also visited a number of times to hang out with in laws. In the Shanghai subway 10ish years ago the English translation of the announcements was, to my American ears, a fairly silly fake-British somewhat-Chinese accent. Somehow that’s what they settled on as ””proper”” English translation. Visiting other parts of China I again encountered similar faux-British English official announcements. Strangely the Beijing subway lacked this silly fake accent and had what I can only assume was an American born Chinese state the stops in regular English.
I wouldn’t read into this too much. This is just one of their many strange things.

I say silly and fake because it sounds like a poorly done affectation. They try too hard and screw it up. Not that an actual British accent is inherently silly.
But the American accent in the Beijing subway was spot on. So I’m saying that announcer probably grew up in the US and speaks like a native English speaker. That one announcer doesn’t have a silly edge to their speech.
I thought the defense industry loves woke capitalism. Knife missiles for brown people, rainbow corporate logos and pride demonstrations for Americans.
