America's NATO ""allies"" fail to spend the agreed upon amounts on their militaries. They fail to meet their commitments and for some reason my American tax dollars are spent keeping them safe. The European "peace dividend" is me getting footed with the bill while they selfishly spend on social programs. Trump correctly called them out as failing to meet their commitments. His lack of politeness and poise has the benefit of him plainly stating the unpleasant truth.
I don't want Russia getting away with invading their neighbors. I don't want a return to 19th century and early warfare. I wish Europeans shared my attitude.

If we had sci-fi battery technology, then electric vehicles would be ideal. Electric motors are in every way vastly superior to gas motors. A tiny motor that is ultra-low-maintenance, ultra-high-torque-starting-at-0-RPM, etc.
But the batteries are in every way horrible. Very heavy, expensive, wear out with use, require rare minerals to make, take a long time to charge, etc.

Doing a bit of googling to confirm this: that's for a five year loan. A new car lasts a few times as long as that. Google says the average age of a modern vehicle is 11.4 years. So pay $716 for 5 years and then get a paid off car for a hell of a lot longer. And most Americans buy used anyways. I guess my point is this crushing financial burden falls on relatively few people and only strictly by choice if they frequently buy new cars.
The average person isn't paying that much for a car. The average person who recently purchased a new car is, but they are a minority.

But more seriously: I can't find it now, but I saw a Federal agency's list of per passenger mile fuel consumption for various means of transportation and public busses were shocking bad. Worse than a single person driving a big truck. A full bus is very fuel efficient per passenger mile. But most city busses are mostly empty most of the day, so they are horribly inefficient uses of fuel on average. Anecdotally I've seen almost empty public busses driving around all the towns I've lived in my entire life. Maybe O'Toole is on to something here.

Getting to selectively let in good immigrants is a great advantage for the US. Just opening the gates would result in the global south median person coming in in enormous numbers. Not exactly modern skilled workers. Our per capita GDP would drop, though some "numbers go up" people would correctly point out that GDP would increase because there's more people.
Snow Crash has a bit about open borders former US in a perfectly globalized world looking like prosperity from the point of view of a Pakistani brick layer. And it looks like living in a Brazilian favela from the point of view of a formerly prosperous American.

Use your campaign funds and you are misusing them.
Use your private funds and you are sneakily concealing expenditures that benefit your campaign. That should be campaign funding since it benefits the campaign.
I'm of this view. If he had never successfully ran for president, then prosecutors would continue not wanting to charge him.
But he won and brought MAGA to us, so they now are looking for payback. They found the man, they merely need to find the crime.
Also Trump probably commits a lot of crimes throughout his life. So they'll find reasons.
