Why would you feel it's hellishly dystopian, when it's a positively banal part of the international system and has been for longer than you've been alive? As long as you claim citizenship of Country X, you have reciprocal obligations with country X
You're missing that part that all states conspired to make everyone have citizenship and do not allow to exit citizenship unless person has another citizenship (or guaranteed to obtain it). Exiting citizenship often is difficult thing.
So it's not a choice

It looks like that before population movement, only Crimea had solid majority who didn't want to be in Ukraine. Speaking Russian language doesn't necessarily mean being want to be part of Russia, compare Ireland and UK for example.

Depends on what you mean by it. If you consider homicide ratios, US areas with Black population are much, much worse than modern Russia and similar to impoverished, hungry Russia in 1990ths.

Also, related: round userpics, which waste space. Cut corners aren't filled with any content. (could be buttons or indicators, at least) I abhor modern design. We probably would have much better designs if we had small screens like in past.
Maybe a part of problem is companies want to increase women representation, and women prefer doing design/UI/UX so users have to view needless frequent redesigns.

This is very, very false equivalence. Wealth gaps are product of both policies and qualities of population. If you add low IQ permanent underclass to a country, keeping its economic policies same, then GDP per capita does down and Gini up. If everyone has same ability, then very intense competition doesn't create major difference in wealth. It's competition, not wealth gaps per se, creates economic growth.

Also obesity and number of HIV+ people in US continues to grow. Probably obesity is not harmful and even good for economic growth.
